Peculiar Accident GR
A very unusual accidents -occurred
in the village last Wednesday :after-
noon when a horse owned by Mr. '3.
Hey and being saddled with an ex-
perienced jockey up, plunged head-on
into the car owned by i4ixs. Joseph
Rau, , of the Blue Water Highway
north of Drysdale. The horse which
which plunged into the car which
was parked near Schilbes flour and
feed store, seemed to be um -teenage -
abl
e and went as though it was a
uoss•,of its own, and right into the
L:ront of the car, breaking oft a head-
light, with its head smashing the
windshield, and doing damage to, the
top, a new radiator had to be put on.
And this time it was not a car hitting
a horse, but a horse hitting a car.
Hensall Organizes Baseball
A very successful organization me-
eting of the Hensel]. l3aseball Club
was held last Monday night in the
council chamber with a good repre-
sentation of office players in attend-
ance. An election of officers was held
followed by a discussion of the com-
ing year's business. The position of
president was ]eft open for the exe
cutive to select. The . following are
the officers elected: Hon. presidents'
J. Ballantine, M. P.P; W. H. Gold-
ing, M.P.; W. J. Jones, 3. W. Ort-
wein; T. E. Drummond, J. Patterson
W. Kerslake, J. Bonthron, H. Arn-
old; Vice presidents John Passmore,
Secy., L. _Battersby, Treas. E. Shad -
dick, Manager,' Laird Mickle, Mese-
oft L. Hudson; Hensall is looking
forward to a strong team for the fol-
lowing year and will start practice
as soon as possible.
Stephen' Resident Passes
Stephen Township lost a well
known and respected resident in the
person of Frederick William Witzel,
who died March 5thafter an illness
of several months. He was in his 78th
year. Born iii5,Wihhiiot Township,
Waterloo County, at about '18'y'ear's
of age came' °to Stephen. "pp."'and
some years later in 1880 was Married
to Maria Firicbeiner, who predeceas-
ed him in 1927. To this union were
born eight children seven of whom
survive, tine son having died in in-
fancy, together with 38 grandchild-
red and four great grandchildren.
Also two sisters. A memorial service
was held in the Evangelical church
at which Rev. A. E. Pleteh officiated,
assisted by Rev. Johnston. Interment
was made in Crediton cemetery. ' A

ent. e.
