A very interesting and well atten-
ded program was given in the Bron-
son line school last Thursday even-
ing. The house was packed to capac-

ed.
Mr. and Mrs. James Rannie, (brid-

returned and will reside on the gro-

have the very best wishes of their

Mr. and Mrs. John B. Laporte of

time during the holiday season.
A very disastrous train wreck oc-
curred near Dundas on Christmas
day, when a fast express train ran
into an open switch where stood an-
other passenger train filled with peo-
ple. The result was several cars de-
molished, 16 were killed and some
40 wounded in the crash. The cries
of the injured were appaling. How
just a little mistake can bring on so
'much trouble. ,
A real good entertainment was en-
joyed by the large gathering in the
Lutheran church, Monday evening,
(Christmas Eve.,) when the scholars
of the Sunday School gave their an-
nual program, which was of a very
high order. The church was filled to
capacity and good ordof and atten-
tion was maintained throughout the
program. The pageant rendered at
the close was also well given and a! tightly in barrels or boxes and stor-

BIM FARMER NEWS
Richest Farm Manure
Poultry manure is undoubtedly the
richest produced on the farm. Poultry
manure, however, ferments very
quickly, losing, if left exposed, a
large portion of its nitrogen as am-
monia. This fact emphasizes the de-
sirability of sytsematicall3r and fre-
quently cleaning off the boards be-
neath the roosts a plan that also con-
duces to the general good health and
thrift of the fowl. In summer the
manure, previously mixed with loam
to destroy stickiness and facilitatedistr1buton,
distribution, may be applied ,iirectly
to the land, and worked with the
surface soil -its best presenvative.
In winter (and at other seasons wh-
en themanure cannot be used direct-
ly), it should be mixed with a fair
proportion of ioam, dried, peatorkuck
sawdust, together with a little land
plaster or superphosphate to fix the
nitrogen. It should then be packed
