he found two in their potato patch in

and if it were legal to stretch the
truth it could be called three pounds
but not so with Archie, anyway we
congratulate him on these large pot-

BRUSSELS LADY GETS DAMAGE,
Under terms of settlement of her
supreme court action over a motor
accident agaiuis Dr. H. D. Hall, den-
tist, of Godcrich, Miss Vvinrrifrec:

in the week at London assize court
when settlement was announced but

Miss Long's expenses totalled some
$3,500 and were included in the
$6,000 she receives. The case was the

WON THIRTEEN FIRSTS
To win thirteen first prizes at
thirteen fall fairs is a unique record
This was .accomplished by 14Ir. Wm,
Decker; just east. of Zurich, with his
fine General Purpose show team,
which goes to show that Mr. Decker
has an outstanding span of horses.
The team was shown at Milverton,
New Hamburg, Stratford, Listowel,
Seaforth, Zurich, Ilderton, Bayfield,
Parkhill, Teeswater, Dungannon,
Fordwich and Wingham. One of the
members of the team at practically
each of these fairs mentioned„ won
the sweepstake prize -at halter, as
best individual horse on the grounds.
The team are both very .young and
in another year or so when fully de-
veloped, could go a long ways before
their equal could be foams. Mr.
Decker is to be congratulated on
possessing the ability to mate up so
good a match, which is an art in
itself.
MARKETING GEESE
The time to prepare geese for
market is when the weather turns
cold in the fall. They should then be
taken off pasture and those selected
for market should be placed in small
penned enclosures, provided with
plenty of water and grit and kept
clean. They should be fed heavily on
whole corn, the best medium for the
fattening of geese, and about two
weeks' heavy feeding should fit them
for . market. 24 hours before killing
geese should be starved, but given
plenty of water. Care should be used
in plucking, the dry or steam method
being recommended, for the reason
that the feathers are particularly val-
uable, 'bringing ns much as 60 cents
per pound. The dressed birds should
be rubbed over with a damp cloth
r
and sot aside to cool. The twelve-
' "' le- makes a desirable market
package. _ , .141/iVita
