There was a good attendance and the report shows substantial increase in busin- ess written during the year and the amount of surplus on .hand, Policies written in 1933 858 for an amount of $i3,479,540. The net number of risks at. .the close of the year were 2,775, amounting to $11,572,805 aiii increase of over $367,000. The casks on hand at the beginning of the year was $9,293.16 and the year closed with a balance of $22,540.20, The amount of oases paid during tale year ,antouated to $7,376.72. The assets ''of' the company total $74,375.10 and the net residue of premiums notes in force is 8;298,713.50. The directors whose term of offree had expired we- re J. T. Allison and S. Norris and on No. 4 Highway and scattered live pork for a distance along the road. The car was badly damaged, but the occupants, Geo. Armstrong and son Edward,, the latter driving, were not hurt. Plucky old Lady A'woman of seventy or over liv- ing up • in Kinloss, fell from a ladder after having forked down hay to feed her sstoek recently and broke a leg. No one was around the place and she pulled the ]ray over herself and stayed there for a couple of days or so, until a neighbor, hearing that her :mail was not being- taken from. the. mail box, investigated. When an attempt was made to move her she suggested that a few minut- es longer wiuldn't hurt her and ask- ed her- rescuers to feed the stock, which had not been attended to. Society Meets The annual meeting of the Exeter Horticultural' Society was held in the reaading room of the Public Li- brary, The report of the Secy-treas- J..GG. Stanbury, sshowed that the so- ciety was in a flourishing condition. The membership last year was 78 and the balance in the treasury mo- unts to over $200.00.
