Car Markers Next Year To Be
Plain White and Black
Ontario motorists will have a new
coior scheme for their automobiles
insofar as their 1934 license plates
are concerned. The new plates now
being manufactured at Guelph will
be in black and white, the figures
will be black as usual with a white,
back-firound.
MANY WANT CHANGE
The great harbor bridge of Sydney
Australia, one of the world's big en-
gineering feats, has one disadvantage
—it is proving an arrestable lure to
those inellned to suicide. The 25th
suicide since the bridge opened last
year is now reported. There is a
ivinter sesason. Apart from their
growing feeling that something will
have to be done to save would-be
food . constituents, - turnips have a.
suicides
-wonderful effect 'in maintaining a
vigorous condition of the digestive
organs and general,system. Young
lambs born in the winter or early
spring are greatly benefited by liber-
al feeding i of -finely sliced turnips
-uritil.grasenarrives. Previous to lam-
bing, ewes should. not be heavily fed
upon turnips or other roots,..from 4
to 5 pounds per day being very bene-
ficial; a larger quantity is liable to
cause .abnoirmallly large, soft
deficient in vitality.
. Health of Poultry'. Flock
Normal health is essential in a
poultry flock because illness lowers
egg production and reduces weight
gains. Disease, 'particularly when of -
a, communicable nature,. is &event -
able. • Medical treatment of a sick
flock costs money -with little assnr-
ance of profitable (results. , Constant
-
vigilance is necessary to prevent the
spread of contagious disease in sae
flock.

New Law Advocated
Mitchell Advocate: Medical exam-
ination for the prospective bride as
well as for the bridegroom she is in-
tending to wed was advocated by re-
presentatives of the Provincial Co-
uncil of Women when they met me-
mbers of the Saskatchewan Cabinet
on Monday last. Under the provis-
ion of Saskatchewan's new marriage
act, passed at the last session of the
legislature, a pre-weddinn examinati-
on of the male was made a necessity.

MUST PAY WIFE,S400 WEEKLY
A despatch. from New York states
that Mutt and Jeff's creator, Harry
C. "Bud" Fisher, failed to have the
allmony he is paying his wife reduced
from $400 to $100 weekly. Fisher
pleaded that his income has been cut
from $350,000 to $31,000 a year, and
that his estate has dwindled from
$3,000,000 to $232,000, but the ap-
pellate court ruled the wife, Mrs.
Aedita Fisher, must still get her $400
weekly.
WAGES AND PRICES
If wages go up, costs go up. If
costs go up, prices go up. If prices
go up, wages must go up some more:
Thus, the economic spiral rises with
three items like three dogs chasing
each other round the track, all after
the rabbit that climbs a pole in the
middle of the spiral just -out of reach
of all three. Which one ought to be
ahead? If wages are ahead of prices,
prices cannot pay the wages. If
prices are ahead, wages cannot pay
the prices.—Ex,

Bill of Lading Required
All truckers handling livestock are
required by Government regulations
under -which their licenses are issued

farmers are not aware of this regu-
lation or the .protection it affords
them and many cases come to light
where livestock shippers have suffer-

of lading from the trucker who hauls
his stock to mark6t. Under the High
