True, they are critized, as are all banks in all countries. But they have opened their doors every morn- ing of every banking day through the greatest 4 depression in the world's history. and 'that fact talks down al- most every criticism that could be levelled against them:. The bankers Of Canada have accepted as their first duty the safeguarding of. their -depositors' money, and they have kept their banks solvent. ,p--+ NOMINATION Hay Township Nomination was held according to statutes on Friday afternoon, with the spacious hall pac- ked to the doors, and standing room :seemed -to be at a premium. Just. ...why such a large attendance is pres- ent the past few years at these meet- ings we cannot explain. However, if the taxpayers are satisfied with the present systems of highway main- tenance, then it is evident they will re-elect as many of the 1933 council as possible, .but:a change of men put in will tell the opposite side of • the story. Then a great many people going to the polls think that a passing around of these honourable offices is only fair. And to such we can ad- vise that .two of the old council are live year men, and the other is a one year man. We•. have never in the past made any comment on to who the people should 'vote for, and with no election for the reeveship it is perhaps not so interesting. Mr. A. F. Hess, the CIerk, was appointed as chairman, and naturally railed on the Reeve, Mr. A. Melick who went over the year's work briefly stating that they have paid . for half of their printing ;outfit,,,, and paid' for the crusher, and. then took up County matters, and that the county audit of the treasurer's books cost ;3298.- 56. A new Clerk and Treasurer we- re appointed .and he thought they made -a good choice_ He stated that the past years $83,000 land was sold ' NOTICE To the electors of the—Township of Hay. iAs I may not be able to see you personally but I will appreciate you support at the poll for councillor oh Monday next.
