Have You Got,Yours?
Wednesday of last week, March 15,
was the last day of grace for your
1932 automobile markers. Have you
made arrangements and supplied your
car with the new 1933 ones yet? If
not, lay the car up. Be obedient to
the laws of the land. Don't count on
getting away with the old ones any
longer, because it won't - work.' The
!Government has been very lenient. It
las extended the time two months
and fifteen days, but the time limit
has now expired. Don't try to im-
pose on good nature.

More Economical Production
Essential to Dairy Business
Figure This Out
Many tales have been told regard-
ing the depression, and some have ap-
peared rather fanciful. Few have
however, taken rank with the story
that comes from Michigan. It is re-
lated that in 1929 before the crash,
a man had a $280,000 loan at a bank
for which he had deposited stock
valued then at $400,000. When the
stock market executed a tailspin the
bank sold him out realizing $830,000
The man's indebtedness was thus
wiped out and he had a $50,000 bank
credit. A little later the bank failed.
It was however, reorganized. In the
shrinkage involved, the man's credit
was reduced to $36,000. He is said
to have: drawn out, $36,000`and bou-
ght back all the securities he origin -
oily held. Consequently he is now,
holder of the same stock as he held
in 1929, has wiped out a $280,000
loan, and has $6,000 cash. Whether
he is a gainer or a loser through the
depression is the conundrunt.: Ex-

BUSY FARMER NEWS
Dairy revenue has decreased stea-
dily for the past few years and in my
opinion, more economical production
of milk .is the only solution to our
present situation in the dairy busin-
ess. said Geo. H. Barr, director,
Dairy Branch of the Department.
"Several factors will serve to-
wards lowering production costs,"
he continued, "but perhaps the
most important of these is improved
breeding. Much can be accomplished
in increasing production of milk per
cow, 'through using only pure bred
sires, with known milk production in
their ancestry. A second important
step towards more efficient product-
ion is that of cow testing, with the
view to eliminate the poor cows, or
'boarders'. A third esseential is that
of scientific feeding. A high -produc-
ing herd must be fed balanced rati-
ons."
Seed May be Scarce
According to J. T. Cassin, manager
Centralia Ont., Potato Growers' As-
sociation, there is probability that
good seed potatoes may be scare at
planting time. Therefore, he advises
all growers to seeuLe t n: rr, li re-
quirements with as little delay at.,
possible.
An lntereetine Experiment
An interesting development has
taken plate in Eranaos a township
Wellan
fi on County in the section
served by has Dirge's flour mill. lair
Eirge grinds the wheat into flour for
use of farmers of the district. He
charges 20 cents per bushel, giving
the farmer back the flours bran and
shorts, less two pounds to covet the
waste. He states that there has be-
en a large 'mere -age in the number of
farmers taking advantage of this

College Royal Show,.
IThe ninth annual College Royal
held at O.A.C. on Tuesday, March
7th, was superior to all predecessors
in number, of entries, in ,general ex-
cellence of exhibits and in masterly
showmanship«
A show in a class by itself is the
College Royal,` for here showmenslup
is the central idea)and in' many of.
the glasses is the exhibitors that are
judged rather than the exhibits. In
the livestock division the alert judj-
es noted every movement of each ex-
hibitor from the time of entering the
rang until .his class was dismissed.
Competiters were duly critizedor
commended without fear or favour
and they accepted it all in the spir-
it of good sportsmanship. The grand
championship went to M. A. Pickncy
a fourth year student, who is as,
good a showman as one could ex-
pect to see on any professional show -
ring, .,..
