Attended Festival
Dr. and Mrs. P. J. O'Dwyer and
daughter Miss Patricia on Tuesday
evening attended the Third Annual
Canadian Musical Festival geld in the
Technical School Auditorium London,
The guest pianoist for the occasion
was the popular 25 year old Norweg-
ian American pianist Storm Boll, who
gave several interesting numbers. In
the Soprano soloist class under 21,
Miss Doris Hamilton of London, re-
ceived first prize, 36 points, and this
is the third time Miss Hamilton has
won this prize. Her many Zurich
friends.join in extending congratulat-
ions. The Metropolitan Church choir
of London, of which. Miss. Hamilton is
a member, also took first prize.
A Bad Accident
A very painful accident occurred -
on Sunday evening about two miles
west of Greenway at about e=leven o'-
clock when a Ford two -doer in charge
of Cyrill Ducharm.e of near Beaver -
town took to the ditch and turned
over damaging the car and injuring
the passengers to a consickrallbe ex-
tents The car was travelling at a-
bout 26 miles pr. hr. at the time, and
the 'driver did not notice a sharp
'bents in the road until it was; too late.
Tha car was on its way to Mt. Car-
mel, and the injured were: Frances
Ducharme and Nora Geroraette had
their knee caps broken and were tak-
en to London Hospital, Miss McGre-
gor fractured arm; 'Cyril. Ducharme
face and elbow lacerated. Traffic
officer Robinson of Exeter , vestig-
ated the case.
In Police Court
At Goderich on Thursday, pleading
guilty to two charges orf breaking
and entering and two more ;of car
theft, Leslie Holmes, 18, and Wm.
Winterfield 21, were each sentenced
to two years in Portsmouth peniten-
tiary, they to run concurrently with
similar sentences meted out at Str-
atford the previous day. "No one
ever got anywhere leading the lives
you boys have been living," Magis-
trate Makins told the good-looking
and well-dressed youths. "The only
path is the straight and narrow. - It
may be hard to f.olIow, but it never
leads to prison." The offences were
committed at Varna, Woodham, Sal-
i'erd and Port Albert, all in Huron
'bunty --•Sentenced to 30 clays in
jail, Mrs. Saloma Cole, deaf mute,
glass and china smasher de lux, told
the .magistrate, through an interpre-
ter of the sign language, that she was
"perfectly satisfied" with the sent-
ence. The charge, to which she plea-
ded guilty, react that she smashed 4
Windows, a transom and tore up the
bed sheets of her room in the ITouse
of Refuge, at Clinton, to which she
had temporarily been committed. She
IS a. native of Russia and met her
husband, now a Goderich Twp. farm-
er at the School for the Deaf and
Dumb, Belleville. She left him when
she went to Alberta early this fall
and refused to return. .

Sunday, November Gth, will mark
another historical date in the life of
St. Peter's Lutheran church, Zurich,
when, they will celebrate their Goth
anniversary of the Dedication. Pre-
parations are- being made for this to
be an outstanding event. There will
be three services. At 10 a.m. there
will be a German service; then at
3 pan. and 7.80 p.m. there will also
.be services. The special speakers
for the occasion will he: Rev. H. F
Crohn, Stratford; Rev. H. R. Mosic,
New Hamburg; Rev. L. H. Kalb-
fleisch, Elmira; Rev. F. L. Howald,
Elmwood; and Rev. A. J, Deters of
