SAVES FROLIC PRIZES With a threat "to blow their brins out," Thos. Collingw,00d, caretaker of Exeter schaols, frightened away a truck -riding band of robbers as they sought to gain entry to the Exeter arena, housing the valuable prizes offered in the Lion's Club frolic. Mr Collingwood, acting as night watch- man in the building, heard the truck drive up about 3 o'clock in the morn- ing. The men shook the arena door, apparently preparatory to attempting to force it. Miss Clara Weber of London, was a week -end visitor at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Campbell 'of Fairgrove, Mich., were holiday visit- ors with Mr. William Lamont. Mrs. Merino Oesch who spent a week or so with relatives near Kin- cardine, has returned home. lidr. and Mrs. Theo. Wagner of Guelph were holiday visitors with the former's parents, Mr, and Mrs. W.C. Wagner. Mr. and -Mrs. Fischer of Kitchener, were week -end visitors with his par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Fisher of town. Mrs. Victoria Denornme of the Blue Water Highway it at present staying at the home of her grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Adron Denomme of town. Messrs. Quimby and Paul Hess who are attending Toronto University and Miss Mae Smith who is attending -Western at London, spent the holiday at their homes here. Mr. Clayton Hoffman, and Miss Muriel Preeter of Galt and Kitchener respectively, were holiday visitors with relatives here. Mr. Newell Geiger who has been taking treatments at London Hospital which included an apendix operation has returned to Zurich,_ and is ever so much improved .in health. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Hamilton and daughter Miss Doris of London, were week -end visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Galster. While Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton were here a few Sun- days ago,' on returning to. their home in London discovered that their home had_be,an robbed of many valuables, including a diamond ring, fox fur and other valuables. Evang. Anniversary On Sunday, Oct. 16th, next Sun- day,—the local Evangelical church is celebrating its Anniversary, when Rev. Roy M. Geiger of Welland, and a former Zurich boy, will be the speaker for the day. Services will be at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Rev. M. Geiger always has an inspiring and helpful message to his audiences, and it will be a rare treat to again hear him. The church choir and the men's chorus will also take part in the ser- vices. The public are cardially in- vited. Miscellaneous Shower A very happy event took place at the home of Mr. acid Mrs. William Rader of town, an September 28th, When fifty were present and gave a miscellaneous shower to Miss Anne Overholt bride elect. A. nock wed- ding was greatly enjoyed by all pres- ent, after which Anne was presented with the beautiful gifts to welch she gave a very fitting reply. The re- mainder of the evening was spent in a few games after which a buffet luncheon was served and then all re- tired to Anne's home where she dis- played her trousseau. Out of town friends were present from Crediton and Milverton.
