The death of Mr. Henry Staubus
occurred in Viotoria Hospital, .Lon-
don, on Friday December. 3rd, in his

Leon, Peters and Harold Broder-
ick had an unpleasant experience re-
cently while drawing gravel from
Cudmore's gravel pit near Exeter.
They were motoring with a load of
gravel several feet back from the
top of the pit when the earth which
had been undermhied, beneath, gave
way and the back Of the truck `'start-
ed 'to cave in, Peters, who was on
ttlie back of the load, jumped from
the truck wit'h 'diffi'culty 'es the gra-
vel slid oft the "truck. prig side of the
back -of the tr4ck went into a hole
and the truck was so twisted that
Broderick, who was driving the truck
was imprisoned in the cab being un-
able to open the door and not know-
ing what second truck and all might
fall into the pais. It was necessary to
use a crowbar to open the door.
90 Years Old

to Mrs. Elizabeth Cluff, Clinton, who
on Dec. 1st entered her 91st year.

Fire Destroys Home
,t is belicevear that Lightning was
responsible for the destruction of the
home of ¥r,.. and Mrs. 4"ohn Ostrom,
Goderich Twp. They had spent Sun-
day last at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ben. Bothwell and arrived home at
11 o'clock. On opening the door they
were greeted with denies which spr-

been smouldering in the basement,
