THIINGS AS USUAL AT FARM
A Groderich •county constable, de-
tailed on a chicken thieving case, vo-
uches for tbls one. Per obvious rea-
sons his identity and that of all con-
cerned are withheld. —Tyro strange
inen last week called on 'a Howick
Twp. farmer's wife, seeking to buy
her flock of chickens. These was no
deal. They called again next day,
and still no sale. Next mining the
chickens were gone—stolen, but in
walking about the boriiyard, the wo-
manspied a •taallet lying on Lthe gro-
und. Examination showed it to, con-
tain $400. No one has .since called
to claim the money, and at the farm
things are going along just .about the
same as usual.
PASTEURIZATION OF MILK
Speaking to the members of the
Morpeth Women's Institute at their
meeting, IVLrs. M. B. Parker, Conven-
or of the standing Committee on
Health, urged all farm women to
pasteurize milk for home consumpt-
ion and safeguard the health of their
families. Milk, while a valuable food
she said, was a factor in the spread
of tuberculosis. ..,;cant fever, dip-
hthasia .ic sore throat and ty-
phoid. With milk infections through-
out Ontario on the increase, • the
"topic of pasteurization or milk will
continue to be a major one," she
continued. s.
MIXED THEIR SIGNALS
•
_.Tt would appear that the farmers
of Howick Twp, Huron, Co., are be-
coming so jittery about chicken thi-
eves, that they are getting their sig-
nals mixed and nave taken to chasing
another around; at nights in darkness
automobiles. The other night a fare
mer came upon a parked car, it sud-
denly started up, and the former
gave chase up the concession and
down a sideroad, lights of both car.
