WHERE THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
PREVAILS
We are againready to se*ve you with, a fine show-
ing of Christmas Goods. While it is difficult to
procure some of the lines that we carried other
years, by placing orders early, even taking goods in
stock four months ago, we have succeeded in hav-
ing a large assortment for your inspection. We
cannot enumerate the many fine things we are
showing suitable for Gifts, but extend a friendly
invitation to one and all to visit our store and see
for yourself.
SPECIAL NOTICE TO BOYS AND GIRLS

Store. He will arrive Saturday Afternoon, Dec-
ember 20th, and present every small Boy and Girl
with a package of sweets. We hope to have lots =
of snow by that time and Mr. Geo. Thiel will hitch •
his fine team of greys to a double cutter to go' up 2
inorth to meet old Santa... Dn not miss this. More 2
particulars next week.•

MORE WAR OVER SUNDAY
This old world of ours has over
the week -end been plunged into the
greatest war and ,conflict than has
ever been experienced. Japan, like
Hitler and his German hordes, first
start shooting and doing their worst
in bombing, and then admit that •a
state of war does exist. Some ter-
ible heavy loss of life and property
have been suffered by the United
States and Great Britain concess-
ions in the far east early this week.
The worst unfail vandalism, or what-
ever you might call lt, was demon-
strated by these furious Japs, As
president Roosevelt ' of the United
States says, it will be a hard and
long war, but we shall •firnally win.
Here's hoping that our freedom and
good method of living may be pre:
served, instead of 'being in close
bondage, and next to slavery as our
enemies have their people. We
cannot win this struggle without ev
ery effort, and we cannot win with
out Providence allowing it to be
so. The ,challenge is a big one not
alone to the few Europeon countries
but also to all the Americas.
