had received from The Dept. of Mun-
icipal Affairs approving the motions
passer by the Trustees of the diff-
erent Police Villages of the Town-
ship of Stephen setting their renlun-
i eration and that of the Secy -Teas,,
also a letter from The Department of
Public Highways stating that for the
purpose of subsidy the Dept. will re-
cognize the rateo of $1.05. per hr,
for bhe time the Power Grader i, titl-
ed on Township road work. This
hourly rate, for thqcurrent year,
covers depreciation, interest, insur-
ance and all repairs,
That in order to protect the in-
terest iof the Municipality the Twp.
Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay
any taxes in arrears on properties
which have been offered for sale by
the County Treasurer and which still
remain unsold.

on Wednesday last week and the

MEMORIAL SERVICE
The morning service on Sunday,
December .15th, at St. Peter's Luth-
eran Church, has been set apart to
the memory of a farmer pastor, the
Rev. C. C. J. Maass, who served this
congregation from 1908-1.3, and who
departed this life December 2nd
1940 in Detroit. Everybody cordially

RETIRES TN GUELPH
Operating the same businessin the

half years, John T. Wagner, who. con-
ducted a tinsnrithing business at 59
Quebec Street East, Guelph, retired
on Saturday last. John T. Wagner was
born in Zurich, but as a young man
went to Guelph to learn the trade of
a tinsmith, He found emtrlioyment
with the late William Sunley, a tin -
:min. whose place of business was
situated on 'Wilson Street. After see-
ing his apprentice hip there, he head-
ed west and worked in Saskatchewan
and British Columbia, following his
trate. Yearning for Eastern Canada
::rcune too strong for Mr. Wagner
and early in 1917 he returned to
Guelph, where he opened his business
on April 1, 1917, on Quebec Street, ,
