Two men charged with false pretences' on a charge read stating that Ruby G. Smith, of Blyth, had exchanged 15 shares of Goderich El- evator and Transit stock, valued at $246.:50 for some Fort Erie Termin- als which allegedly is worthless. The men are not registered either as bro- kers or salesmen under the Act. Two months in jail was the term meted out to Jack Kli.lpei't, 17 -yr. old Owen Sound boy who pleaded guilty of breawing entering and theft. The youth also is wanted in Owen Sound on charges. Constables Jennings and Rutherford testified they had not observed keys in the ignition of the car of Oliver Goldthorpe, Bayfield, when they arrested him on the night of July 20 for being in the care and control of an autmobile while in- toxicated. Goldthortpe paid $10 and costs for ilttozication. Ralph Murphey a husky young man, pleaded guilty en Marehtli last, of beating an $84 bane bill. He was given a chance to pay but so' far has paid only $15. Arrested on a bench warrant he was sentenced to four months in ,Tail. Eidt passed away at her home in New Hamburg on Saturd;aty morning, Jtrly 27th, 1940 at the: age of 59 years. Few people knew of her .illness and the news of her death was a great shock to her 11aamy, friends. A septic infection of the throat caused her demise. The late Mrs. Eidt, whose maiden name was Mary- Stade,, was born in Dash- wood, on May 21st 1881, a craughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Stade. She was married there to her now bereaved husband. They moved to New -Hamburg about 16 years ago. Mrs. Eidt was of the Lutheran faith and when conning to New Hamburg joined Trinity Church and became a valued and active member of Trinity Ladies' Alit Society. Besides ner tius- band she leaves in deep bereavement one son, Courtney of Detroit, 'and a daughter, ;Mrs. (Dr.) T. B. Feick of New Hamlburg, also two brothers and a sister: Rudoloh Stade of Zurich, William Stade of Dashwood, and Mrs. Berman Eidt of Ingerse1., The funeral was held on Mondayafter- noon fternoon from her late home to Trinity Church for public service. Interment following in Riverside cemetery, Rev H. R. Mosig, who was away on his holidays in the Ottawa district, came home to conduct the. funeral service.
