eral of Canada passed on at Mon-
treal on Sunday evening, in the Mon-
treal Neurological Institute, where he
was taken Friday in an att-mpt to
save him from concussion wiiieh he
suffered when he fell in hi; ro-om at
1 GOVerTIMellt House, Ottawa, on Tu-
esday. Three cranial operations Were
performed, one at Ottawa and two
at Montreal, but he passed on. He
was 66 years of age, and undoubted-
ly one of Canada's most distinguished
Governor Generals. It is said that
he visited all parts of the Dominion
in his few years of this high offioe,
and all Canada is sadened as they
mourn his death. The funeral is in
State at Ottowa, and will be held at
Montreal, Wednesday, and then the
remains will be taken to England for
final burial.

COUNTY CLERK CALLED
J. M. Roberts, Huron County Clerk
received instructions last week to re-
port for duty at Ottawa as quickly as
possible. 1VIr. Robert, who was with
the Air Force in the Great War, off-
ered his servees in the present war
the' day war was declared. His pos-
ition is being taken by Norman W.
Miller of Clinton who was appoint(''
at deputy clerk of Huron County as
Mr. Roberts left for Ottawa on Mon-
day. Mr. MilIar's appointment wall
made by the wardens' committee. He
is. 44 years of age and is at present
tax collector and issuer of motor ve-
hicle licenses at Clinton, a native of
Goderich and saw service with the
161st Battalion ittothe other war.
"Prayer was given an espeeially
prominent place in the servIces of
the Evangelical chrch during the peat
two weeks. On Sunday night Feb. 4
the W:M.S. sponsored the Day • of
Prayer occupied the centre pews and
participated in the epetially prepar-
ed worship program. The Young Peo-
ple' 's Mission Circle sang "Follow the
Gleam." A special self (teraal offer-
ing amounted to nearly $23 was re-
ceived. A missionary sermon was pre-
ached by the pastor. On Friday night
Feb. 9, a fine group of members and
friends gathered in the church .to
observe the World's day of Prayer.
The entire program was led by Miss
0. O'Brien, following a printed order
of worship. The Y.P.-M.C. members
and the Mission Band assisted. Mrs.
W. D. Bryce sang, "An Evening
Prayer." Miss Pearl PAM played for
the hymns. The monthly meeting of
the Ladies' .Aid and W.M4. was held
on Wednesday evening Feb. 7. Ano

Music was supplied by the Men's
chorus for the two preaching serv-

newly elected Albright eerotherhood
Executive was introduced to the .00n-
giiegation. An impressive Installation
ceremony consecrated these officials
to their task, Rev. C. B. Heckendorn
spoke on "Arise, ye sons of Albright"

Twenty-fifth Anniversary
A very plemeanit celebration took
place last Friday evening when some
neighbors and friends gathered at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. ,Stade
of town, to spend a social evening
in honor of their Twenty-fifth wed-
ding anniversary which was on Sat-
urday. February 110th. This happy co-
uple of 25 years, Was presented .with
a beautiful silver rose bowl contein-
ing twelve • American Beauty red
roses and foliage. This was given by
little Betty Ann °nacho and Billy
Yungblut, also a very appropriate
gift was reteived from their son
Harold, along with numerous other
valued gifts. Many cards and tele-
phone calls with hest wishes were ad-
ded over .the week -end. A very delic-
ious luncheon .was served by the
hostess containing the bride and
groom cake, the former being baked
with the same recipe and by the same
person,. namely, Mrs. Stade, (nee 7Vlise.
Laura. Steinbach) of 2s years ago. Jt
