The pictures of their Majesties' Royal Visit to Canada, will be shown an the Evangelical church on the ev- ening of March 28th, Mr. Fred 'Thiel of Sarnia, spent the week -end with his family here. Mr. Thiel has .recently been appointed as manager of the Sarnia branch of the Electro Lux Cleaners. Ash Wednesday, or the beginning of lent is being ushered in this Wed- nesda, February 7th, Good Friday falls on Friday, March 22nd, and Easter Sunday March 24th. Mrs. Arlie Dieterich of Kitchener, is attending to her mother, Mrs. Wm S. Ruby of town, who is recovering nicely from her recent illness. Her son, Mr. Emery Ruiby of Kitchener, was also here the past week. The Liberals of the Huron -Perth riding will hold their Convention on Friday afternoon in the Town Hall, Hensall, when the candidate for the coming election will be appointed, and undoubtedly the present member Mr. W. HAZARDOUS TRU;' Goderich—Six men made a haz- ardous trip in two rowboats two miles out into Lake Huron off this port on Friday, to recover an ice - cutting z,aw, gasoline engine and other equipment, total value $1,000, which had drifted with a northeast gale when thb ice broke away :from the shoreline during the night. The v ather was five below zero with a bitter ea;t windly wind ;blowing, but the ice floes helped to keep the water calm. The ice -cutting equipment was sighted on a piece of ice 25 feet square. A line was thrown over the gasoline engine, lrozen in the ice and the whole towed to shoe by the men in the boats, which land- ed two miles clown shore.
