DAIRYMEN' CONVENE
With an excellent program, includ-
ing a dairy exhibition. the 72nd an-
nual convention of the Dairymen's
Association of Western Ont. is being
held in the Masonic Temple., London
on 'Wednesday and Thursday this
week.

OBITUARY
PIES AT 89
Hrs. Hannah Patterson, 89,; Hen -
sail's oldest woman resident, died on
Thursday evening, Jan. 5th, two ewe-
eks after she had been injured IT a
fall at her home She had beena
resident of Hensall for 66 years and
was one of the town's best knowii'cit-
hens. Death occurred on the anni-
versary of her wedding day. Her hus-
band, Robert Patterson. died 34. Yrs.
ago. Fc,_ some time followingthe
death of her husband, Mrs. Patterson
operated a private hospital in Hensel'
Surviving are a son, James,a Clerk
of Hensall; three stepdaughters'and
two stepsons also survive. Upon re-
quest of the departed a public funer-
al was held on Saturday with Rev. W.

HAY COUNCIL
The first sitting of the members -of
the Council of the Township of Hay
for 1939 was held at the Township
Hall, Zurich, at 11 o'clock in the
forenoon on Monday January 9th ac-
cording to the provisions of The Mun-
icipal Act. After 'the Declaration of
Office was signed by George Arm-
strong as Reeve, and by Roland Gei-
ger, Fred J. Haberer, William Haugh
and Max Turnbull as Councillors- the
Council became organized for the
year. The minutes of the 'December
15th meeting were adopted as read.
After disposing of . nuinerousecal6i
munications the folowing resolutions
were passed:

1939: Clerk-Treas., A. F. Hess; As-
sessor, W. H. Eclighoffer; Weed In-

Att. Officers, Eastern Di'v. W. R. Do-
