Cook, one of several Canad- ians airmen to escape from German- occupied territory within the last few weeks who have arrived back in Can ada on leave. FO Cook was missing for six weeks in occupied territory, Then, just over a week ago, his mo- ther was dumbfounded to learn that he had reached England. She was absolutely astounded to hear he was in Ottawa, and coming home. SEES FRIEND ON NEWS REEL Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Faust received a letter from their son, Carl Faust, who is in the RCAF., stationed at St. Hubert, Que. He and his wife were in Montreal taking in a show. They showed a news reel in which one of the boats landed in England. To their surprise they saw amongst the men in uniform walking down the plank walk, one of his Mitchell pals. Her- bie Homuth. They stayed for the' second show to be fully convinced. Mr. Faust of town immediately noti- fied Mrs. Herbie Homuth, formerly Jean McNairn, who was pleased to hear about it. ---Mitchell Advocate. RED CROSS NEWS The Red Cross Draw for a quilt anti comforter put on by U.S.S. No. 1, Hay and Stanley was held in the school room, on Wednesday eve. Dec. 8th, A short program was carried out, with,. Mr. E. Stelck as chairman.. It consisted of a solo by Priscilla Denomme, duets by Misses Patsy and Shirley Sreenan, 'A recitation by Clarence Ducharme, a duet by Mr. and Mrs. E. Stelck. The speaker for the evening was Mr. E. M. Dagg, president of the Red Cross Society of Zurich, who gave a very instruct- ive address on the Red Cross, its orige. and work. The luc ,y tickets were held by Mr. E. M. Dagg, Zur- ich, and Donald Denomme, Clinton. The proceeds from the sale of tick- ets amounted to $24,85, which wa- handed over to the local Iced Cross Society, by Mr. L. Regier, Secretary of U. S. S. No. 1.
