- ELECTION RESULTS
The Liberal Government • of Ont-
ario, headed by Hon. H. C.- Nixon,,
went down to defeat in last Wednes-
day's Provincial election. The C.C.F.
party polled a surprisingly large vate.
especially in the industrial districts,•
and cut into the old parties in other
ridings;: upsetting the calculationsof
seasoned politicians. The Conservat-
ive party under Col. :George Drew„'
has the majority in the house and
will likely •be called upon to form a
government.
In the Huron riding, Dr. R. Hobbs.
Taylor, of Dashwood was elected as
Progressive Conservative to represent
the riding with a majority of 461
over B. W. Tuckey, the Lteral can-
didate. In the 11.937 election. Sanies
Ballp.ntyne was elected with a. maj-
ority of 1180 over Dr. Taylor.
Following the receipts of. the full
election results from Huron several
carloads of friends and supporters of
the successful :candidate, Dr. Taylor,
toured the ridings and on invitation
the Doctor spoke briefly to: large at-
tendances. They were at Zurich and
he addressed the gathering, from the
veranda of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Gas-
cho, when the candidate. expressed
himself as not going to Toronto to
represent the party alone, but also
every citizen of the riding of whom
he can serve.
Pte. and Mrs. James Parkins are
spending the summer months with the
latter's parents, Mr. and: Mrs. Herb
Mousseau near Brucefield.
