Canada are holding its 81st annual
Synod convention in St. Peter's Lu-
theran Church, Brodhagen, Logan

of the province and from "Western
Quebec are attending. Dr. S.
Reble, H.amilton, president of the
Synod, is delivering the opening ad-
dress at a COMIITUT11011 service on 'Tn.-

ished visitors will be Dr. R. E. Tull -
oda, president of Wittenberg College,
Springfield, Ohio. He will addresa the
gathering on "The Whole Work of
the Whole Church". and Rev. H.
Lehmann,' Winnipeg will bring gre-

the United Lutheran church Rev A,
Newdorffer, missionary on furlough(India, from India, and Rev. R.'13. Goelhaarf

TO BRING, FARM WORKERS
Ottawa - The Dominion Govern-
metn is arranging with the provinc-
ial governments to move 1,000 farm
workers from the prairies to Ontario
for temporary farm work during this
summer. Lahor Minister Mitchell an,
nounced. They will be taken to cen-
tral and Southwestern pntario, wh-
ere they will remain for less than 2
months. The men will still be back
en the prairies in time for the West-
ern harvest it is said. Ontario faces
a critical labor shortage ,for summer

Robert Orr was taken suddenly ill
and token to Clintdn hospital where
he underwent an operation for 'ap-
pendicitis, his friends hope he will
soon recover.
The many friends of Mrs. Murdoch
°Ross are sorry to hear of her con-
tinued illness. Her daughter, Mrs.
Bassett of Buffalo and Mrs. David-
son of Woodstock are with her.
Miss Nora Ferguson, who spent
the winter in London has returned to
