DIES AT DETROIT
Edsel Ford, 49, the only son of Mr
and Mrs. Henry Ford, founder of the
vast Ford industrial empire, died -on
May 26th at his home at Grosse Pt.
Shores, a Detroit suburb. The young-
er Ford, who was chief executive of
the Ford Company for 24 years, died
from a stomach condition, he became
seriously ten days previous. His four
children being present at his death.
The three sons all of whom are in
the armed services, had been granted
leaves so they could return to the
family estate. Edsel, at the time of
death was in the midst of one of hi -s
company's greatest efforts, an about
production of war materials. His fa-
ther, now 79, had done that before
him, when he was head of the Ford
Compand during the First Great
War.

St. Peter's Church, Goderich, was
the scene of a pretty wedding when
Monica Agnes, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Ed. Hartman, Goderich became
the bride of Alis Joseph Donnelly,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Donnelly
of Norwich. The .bride wore a white
street length dress with white nescessories. - She was. attended by Miss
Agnes Austin of Kingsbridge, wear-
ing pink street length dress with
pink accessories. Clare Bedard of
Stratford, was best man. A lovely
dinner was served at Wong's Restu-
arant to 25 guests, after which the
young couple left an a honeymoon
trip to Niagara Falls and other places
Guests were present from Wallace -
burg, Seaforth, Norwich, .Stratford,
Drysdale and Kingebaidge.

Federal Progressive - Conservative
party of Canada, is to be at Seaforth
on Monday, June 7th, and is expect-
ed to visit Goderich on the following
day, and arrangements are in pro-
gress for a banquet under the spons-
orship of the Lions and other organi-
zations.

Arrangements for the Huron Co-
unty Federation of Agriculture Field
Day and. Picnic at the Lions Park,
Seaforth, on Monday, June 7th are
,nut, completed... - Included in the
program will be a home canning de-
monstration of fruits and vegetables
without the use of sugar by Miss
Edith Elliott of the Dept. of Agric-
ulturae, Ottawa. With sugar at a
premium for the canning season this
will prove of unusual interest to alt
women of the home. Dr. A. h. Camp-,
bell of .Hensall, is chairman in change
of the Veterinary Clinic, where many
diseases of farm animals wi11 be dis-
cussed. There will be a demonstrat-
ion of labor saving devices. Ten
minutes will be devoted to a talk on
the need of more bacon for Britain.

be given by prominent leaders of
Canada, of which the Hon. John
