DIES AT MILVERTON
The death occurred at M.ilveron of
Mrs. Ida Cook ,Spencer, 61, widow of
William Spencer after several week's
illness. She was a daughter of the
ate Peter and Annie Cook, pioneers
of (Perth County and was born on the
homestead Elma Twp., her husband
predeceasedu ten years.. Surviving
is a son Ralph, and four sisters, Mrs.
W T Truemner, Zurich; Mrs. W. H,
Truemner, Colbourn; Mrs. G. Hargre
ayes, Britton and Miss Carrie Cook,
Milverton The funeral was held on
Saturday to Greenwood cemetery, rat
Milverton. ,
HAY COUNCIL
The regular monthly .meeting of
the Council of the Township of Hay
was held in the Town Hall, Zurich,
on Monday, Oct. 5th. The monutes
of the Sept. meeting were adopted as
read.
After disposing of the communic-
ations the following resolutions were
passed:
That By-law No 13-1942 providing
for payment of loss or damage to
poultry and pigs Las provided for un-
der amendment to the Dog Tax and
Live Stek Protection Act be read
first and second time.
That Henr Steinbach be appointed
inspector of tiled portion of Schwalm
Drain and report to the Council at
the special meeting to be held on Sat
urday evening, Oct. 10th.
That bond re Tax Collector be
renewed for another year.

Mrs. Gideon Koehler on Sunday.
Mrs. C. Fritz and daughter Miss
Pearl Wurtz spent a few clays at the
home of Dr and Mrs H H Bowen, at
Exeter.
Mass Margaret Glenn entertained
Miss Ellen Fremlin at the home of
the former's parents near Chiselhurst
over the week -end.
Misses Alpha Meyer,, Irene Turk-
heim of Stratford Hospital where
they are in training, spent the week-
end with their parents in Zurich.

and Mrs. Jacob Meidinger on Sunday

To Dedicate New Books
The morning services at St. Pet-
er's Lutheran church, October 11,
will be of a special nature. New
hymnals which have been recently
purchased by the Sunday school will
be dedlicaited. A number of children
will assist the Pastor in the service.

Late Mrs. Andrew Thiel
There passed away at her home in
Zurich, on Saturday October 3rd,
Katherin Anna Price, beloved com-
panion of Mr. Andrew Thiel in her
79th year, after a considerable leng-
thy illness which the patient always
bore with great Christian fortitude.
Mrs. Thiel was bornin Hay Township
a nd has 'lived all' her life in the vic-
inityFor the •past 50 years was a
resident of Ziirich. This happy aged
couple celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversary last December 14th, 1941
The departed was always very willing
and helpful for any one in need, a
very devoted mother to herfamily,
always seeking the Tway . most honest
and honorable, and she will be great-
ly missed by them. Surviving are
her husband; three sons, George, El-
mer and William • of Zurich; two
daughters, Mrs. H. . Olausius, Hay
Township; Mrs. D. ,Say.nders, Strat-
ford; .32 grandchildren and 11 great-
grdndchidren, and a host of friends.
A private funeral was held frpm the
home on Tuesday,, followed by,a pub-
lic service. at ., St. Peter's Lutheran
church, of which • the departed was
a devout member Rev. E. Heimrich
conducting the service. Interment
followed in St. Peter''s•cemetery. The
floral tributes were many showing
the high esteem of the departed. Sine
grandsons were the .pall -bearers:
Erl and Charles Thiel, Harvey and
Albert Clausiue; Harold and Carl
Thiel. .Much sympathy is extended
to the bereft and especially to Mr.
Thiel who has lost his caMpaaion of
