Hoffman—Bolton
Carmel Presbyterian church, eHn-
sall, was the scene of a very pretty
summer wedding Saturday July 11
at 3 p.m. when Thomas Harry Hoff-
man, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Hoffman, Dashwood, and Ella Maud
Bolton of London, oungest daughter
of Mrs. Gordon Bolton and the late
Gordon Bolton of Hensall, were un-
ited in marriage. The ceremony was
solemnized by Rev W. Weir of Car-
mel church, assisted by Rev. C. Bec-
ker of Dashwood, in a beautiful set-
ting of palms and summer flowers.
The guest pews were tied with white
satin bows. Miss Gertude Hoffman.of
Dashwood was at the console of the
organ for the bridal music, and the
soloist Mrs. J. Mervyn Tiernan of
Dashwood, a sister of the groom,
sang, "My World". The bride given
itt marriage by her brother-in-law,
Dr. Spellman of Kitchener, wore a
graceful floor-legth gown of white
sheer with fitted lace jacket, Peter
pan collar buttoned to the waist,
long sleeves tapering o a point over
the wrist and her floor -length veil of
-tulle was caught with a crown of
Better time roses and she carried a
shower bouquet of the same.
Miss Victoria Balton of Toronto,
sister of the bride, as maid of honor
wore a floorlength sher gown of He-
avenly blue, with sweetheart neckline
short jacket with matching crown of
Heavenly blue shoulder length veil
and carried briarc]iffe roses. Miss.
Isobel Howlett and Miss 'Shirley
Clark 'both of London, were becom-
ingly gowned in floorlength -gowns of
point d'esprit, with sweetheart neck-
lines, puffed sieves, full skirtes gath-
.eed on a long taarse bodice. Miss
Nancy Tiernan of Dashwood, niece of

.Helen Sellman of Kitchener, nieces
of the bride were the flower girls

Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Dietrich, of
Kitchener were Wednesday visitors
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin
Schilbe.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Dinnin, and
Mice Anna Hess attended the Bolton
Hoffman wedding on Saturday after-
noon al Hensel]. where they were in-
vited. &eats. .
• Wednesday afternoon is the date
of the Evangelical picnic and there
seems to be a good turnout and the
day is ideal for the occasion.
If any one has taken the towels
from the town hall to their homes to
wash, please return them at once, as
they will be needed.
In last week's issue Mrs. Elmore
Klopp's /name should have been ad-
ded to the jam making committee
for jam for the boys overseas, as a
member of each church is represen-
ted; Lutheran, Catholic and Evangel-
ical. The Mennonite people are tak-
ing care of their own work.
RED CROSS NEWS
The Zurich and District Branch of
the Red Cross Society shipped to
headquarters the following: 10
skiirte, 20 blouses; 10 pr. shorts; 10
jackets; 20 shirts; 50 ,children's
dresses, 1 baby's outfit, 1 lady's
dress, a Afghan; 3 blankets, 19
quilts; 50 bEuby :blankets. The Sec-
retary regrets an error in the do-
tnoa eidist last week. S.S. 12 Hay
donated 1 afghan and 1 baby's out-
fit; U.S.S. 1, Hay and Stanley don-
ated 1 quilt top.
OBITUARY'
Late Wm. H. Hoffman
There passed away at his home in
Zurich last Friday morning, July 10,
one of Zmicies leading and well
known business men in the person of
William Henry Hoffman in his 74th
year. Born fin iCrediton, Mr. Hoff-
man lived his entire married life of
511 years in Zurich being the ordest
busimess man in continuous business
all this time he was a tailor and n
undertaker for the last 32 yerm An
adherent of the Evangelical church.
Mr. Hoffman was a great loiter of
all sports whether indoor or outdoor;
very fond of shooting, and when
young man, played baseball, and i
was this ;interest that induced bits
:three sons to become prominent in
baseball and hockey. Always ready
to give a helping hand and do a good
turn, the deceased was a very like-
able citizen and much devoted to his
fainly, In 1891 he marriei Clara,
Faust, who sirvives, also one daugh-
ter, Mrs. Leroy O'Brien of Zurich, 3
sons, Lee W. of Zurich; Clarence
and Clayton of Galt and four grand -
,children. The funeral as held nt
the residence on !Sunday at 2.80 p.
ne, with Rev. C. B Heckendorn, of
the Evangelical church, officiating.
Interment followed iin the Bronson
line cemetery. The floral tributes
were many and lovely, and the fun-
eral was laxgely attended. And 40
another of our elder businessmen has
passed on, and as we regret hie loss,
we are thinking of the same exper-
ience Will befall as all sooner or
