S. MEET The December meeting of the Blake Women's Missionary Society was held at the home of Mrs. Clar- ence Parke with a good attendance. Hymn 46 was sung after'which Mrs.' Carne read the scripture lesson from Colors. III chap. Mrs. rein Dins- more offered prayer. The devotional leflet was ably given by Mrs. El- more McBride , hymn 53 was sung. After the minutes of the last meet- ing were read and adopted and the roll call responded to, the collection was taken up. The, topic was given by Mrs. Roy 'McBride; hymn ' 47 was then sung and the business was dealt with. The election of officers followed after which. all prayed the Lord's Prayer in unison, The meet- ing closed by singing the National Anthem. Blake W. M. S. closes a very successful year. After meeting their allocations of $0:5,00 a tidy sum was left over for other sources. BURRIED AT GODERICH The remains of Kerwood W. White turnkey of Huron County jail, whose death oecurred in the Toronto Hos- pital on Christmas Day, was heldon Sunday when the funeral was held from St. George's Anglican church. Rev., Graham of Bayfield offiicia'ting. Interment in Maitland cemetery. Mr. White died 11 days after he was injujred while ,preventing the escape of a prisoner, John Flenniken, 17, a big husky over six feet tall and who was being held for theft of an auto, authorities say he will now be charg ed with murder. It is alleged that Flenniken his the turnkey over the head with a;hammer. Mr. White was rushed to Toronto for an operation when it was revealed that an abses had formed on the brain.
