Zurich Citizens News, 1975-11-26, Page 26Page 6 - Citizens News, December 3175 Gets jail sentence on impaired charges A Huron Park man was sentenced to a total of 17 days in jail when he appeared before Judge Glenn Hays Q.C. on two charges of impaired driving, Tuesday. Theodore L Legris, had been charged with the offence on November 24 and was scheduled to appear in court. He then be- came involved in an accident; in Exeter Saturday night and nded up facing both charges. In addition to the jail term, .egris was prohibited from driv- ng for a total of 24 months. Judge Hays said he was amazed that the accused would ,ecome involved in a second )ffence while awaiting a court ►ppearance on the first. The Crown Attorney, noting previous , onvictions in the Huron Park man's record, asked for the jail sentence. Three people were each fined $75 after pleading guilty to charg es of having narcotics in their possession. The three had been charged in separate incidents. They were Michael Devecchi, London; John MacLeod, Huron Park, and David Dunn, RR1 Hay. All three pleaded guilty to the charges. Gary Sauder, Huron Park, was given a conditional discharge on a charge of possessing a narcotic. He had appeared previously and a pre -sentence report was termed "favorable". He was ordered to comply Ron and Jean Wareing's 5� to $1 store was broken into on the weekend. The entry was made through a small window at the back of the store. A small amount of cash was taken. In other cases heard by Judge Hays and Justice of the Peace Douglas Wedlake, the following fines were levied: Alvin Gould, RR 1 Exeter, $200 for the theft of nine 8 -track tapes from a car in Hay Town- ship. The owner of the car from which the tapes were stolen told the court he saw someone get out of a truck and take the tapes. He notified police who were able to recover the items. Paul McInnis, RR 3 Dashwood, $103 for careless driving. He was involved in a single car crash when he lost control of his vehicle in loose gravel. A high rate of speed was given as one of the reasons for the accident. Paying fines for having liquor in a place other than their re- sidence were: Clifford G. Holt, London $53; Douglas R. Fisher, Goderich, $53; Robert Hawke, llderton $53; Kenneth Barry Campbell, RR 2 Ailsa Craig, $53; David Vincent, Crediton, $53. Leo Dietrich, Centralia, $33 for following another veh- icle too closely. Paying speeding fines were Bruce Whitney, RR 1 Dashwood, $27; Francis Potts, Petrolia, $33; Brian Schultz, RR 2 Clinton, $33; Malcolm Dort, Owen Sound, $13; Blair Hayes, London $33.
