the firm of Borland and Orchard Ltd., Thorndale, installed a total of nine lights along the main
street. The project is costing the village $23,000., almost half of which is subsidized.
GB takes look at budgets
Grand Bend council took a
close look at proposed budgets
from the various departments
for the year 1976. After all the
budgets were presented Reeve
Bob Sharen said, "This is only
the first draft, we will likely cut
thein a lot more."
The administration budget
was presented at 843,950 an
increase of $7,900 from this year.
This amounts to a rise of about
20 percent.
The proposed administrative
budget would include an increase
of $1,000 for clerk Louise Clipp-
erton and $900 for assistant
Brenda Mawson.
During this duscussion Reeve

Sharen said the clerk's salary
was far below those paid in
neighbouring municipalities
and suggested council ask
special approval from the provin-
cial government for another
$500 increase.
The public works budget
originally presented at $36,300
was slashed to 832,800 with a
drop in monies allotted for
asphalt.
In addition $13,J00 is to be
allotted for 'drainage on River
Road and $3,000 for similar work
on Lake Road. Earlier in the
meeting council accepted the
tender of Ken Lovie of Shipka
of 82,385 to do the drainage
work on Lake Road.
Road foreman Gary Des-
jardine will be in charge of repair
work on the road shoulder
after the, drainage works are
completed.
A budget for the recreation
committee submitted by coun-
cillor Harold Green was cut from
$17,160 to 814,180.
While discussing 'recreation ,
councillor Harold Simpson pro-
prosed 'that the rec committee
should look after only recreation
activities and operation of the
boat docks would remain under
the jurisdiction of council and
councillor Harold Green.
Reeve Sharen suggested the
rec group take over full control of
the 1976 swimming program.
Council decided to continue
the policy of putting monies in
to reserve funds each year. The
reserves will include $15,000 for

C's club bowling
Monday November 24, twenty
members of the 3C's Club made
up four teams and bowled three
games at the Village Inn, Grand
Bend. Ladies high score, Pearl
James; ladies'. consolation,
Mary Ellen Ferguson; Men's
high score, Dave Ferguson;
Men's consolation, John Temple-
' ton. For the next gathering the
group decided to join forces with
the three congregations and take
their families to participate in
the candle light service being
held in Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Hensall, Sunday, Dec-
ember 21. Plan to atend. Lunch
will be served by the 3C's.

The young people of the Unit-
ed Church met on Sunday even-
ing, November 16 and discus-
sed a calendar of events. The
next meeting will be a card party
on December 7 at 7:30 p.m:
