Mr. and Mrs. Robert French, son-in-law and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, are. the proud parents of a baby boy born November 23. Hensall residents who visited Mr. "and Mrs. Gordon Schwalm, Mrs. Daisy Ivey and Mrs. Eliza- beth Volland were Mrs. Gladys Cudmore, Mrs. Bona Clark and Mrs. Margaret Ingram, Out of town visitors included Mr. and Mrs. Art Coombs of Clinton, who have just celebrated their; 44th wedding anniversary, Mr. J. Robbins, Mr. Charles Schwalm and Mrs. May O'Hara all of London. Mr. and Mrs. J. MacLean of Exeter visited last week with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mr. land Mrs. J. 0. O'Brien and family of Brigden visited this week with Mrs. O'Brien's parents Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flynn. Mrs. Don Dalton and Mrs. Dorothy Munroe of Seaforth visited last week with Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoy visited last week with the latter's brother-in-law and sister Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fink at Pt. Clarke. Rev. Wilfred Jarvis B.A.B.D. conducted the service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Mrs: Malcolm Dougall presided at the organ. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be ob- served at 10:15 on Sunday December 14. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mac Don- ald have taken up residence in the property they recently pur- chased from Mrs. Blackburn on Richmond Street north. Mrs, Elizabeth Vollancl visited with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Johns- ton of Brucefielcl and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Taylor of Varna last, week, The annual meeting of the Hensall United Church Women will be held on Monday, Dece- mber 1 at 8:00 p.m. when Chisel hurst will be guests. The soloist will be Mrs. Marilyn Zivkovick. (News Photo) United Church uses fifty year old order of service at special event A special service of Witness celebrating fifty years of Union was held in Hensall United Church on Sunday with Rev. Don Beck officiating. The Order of Service was -that used fifty years agb•and the choir which was composed almost entirely of older people, sang the anthem, "0 that will be, Glory for me" with Mrs. John Turkheim at the organ. At the conclusion of the Doxo- logy the celebration began. In this particular charge, a union had taken place in Chiselhurst in 1914 between Zion Episcopal Methodist Church and the Chisel- hurst Presbyterian , Church, following the illness in 1913 of the Rev. Shaw of the Presbyterian Church. The present United Church is the former Methodist Church. Church Union discussions started in 1923 by the Methodist and Presbyterian Churches in Hensall and on January 6, 1925 -a sometimes heated meeting' was held for the membership of both congregations, which resulted in a secret ballot, to take place in the Church, at specified times, up to, and inclu- ding January 20. Scrutineers for anti -union were Mr. Peter Moir, J. Craig and Miss Helen Smith;for union were Mr. J. Rowcliffe, C. A. McDonnell and C. Cook. After singing "will your Anchor Hold in the Storms of Life?" the congregation enjoyed a pot luck luncheon and following that a film, "Heritage for the Future."
