EXETER
Dear Norm:
As you know, I'm not accustomed to writing letters but due to the mail
strike I haven 't been too busy yet and decided to take a quick trip through the
area to get some ideas for gifts for Ms. (yes, she 's joined the ranks) Claus and
all my faithful elves.
Well, to make a long story short, I just could hardly believe my eyes when I
visited your store on Main St. just south of the Exeter bridge. I expected to
find the usual assortment of used furniture and antiques, so you can imagine
my amazement to walk into your building and see such a wide assortment
of gift items. Your stock of new appliances --both large and. small --is outstand-
ing and there are few stores where one could find such an assortment of
models. I noticed further back you have added color TV and stereos and 1 en-
joyed listening to some of my favorite songs (I like that one about Santa
kissing mama) on those Rogers Majestic stereo components.
I thought that was bout it for your stock but 1 proceeded to walk through the
door from the appliance section and I thought my eyes were deceiving me.
Where did you ever get such a large assortment of new furniture? I think I
can honestly say it 's one of the best collections of new furniture I've seen.
In fact the only problem I can see is making up my mind.
However, here 's a partial list of nzy wants for Christmas and 1'11 be around
Christmas eve when 1 have my sleigh and pick them up. Don 't bother to gift
wrap the big items.
MS. CLAUS: One of those automatic dryers so she doesn 't have to freeze
her hands hanging out my long johns this winter, plus a chesterfield with a
matching chair.
DROOPY: I just know he 'd love to watch the hockey gauzes on one of those
colored TV. He loves to play the game but he finds it just too difficult to
keep scraping all the snow off the ice up here.
SNOOPY: He 's always one of the toughest to pick up a gift for. However
I 'm sure he 'd be tickled pink with a stereo and you can set aside a new mat-
tress as well because he keeps complaining about his sore back and his prod-
uctivity is dropping.
RUDOLPH: One of those hanging lamps would be just fine. He claims
his nose is getting a little dull with old age and he needs something for the
bedroom.
LAZY CLEM: I know one of those luxurious swivel rockers would be just .
ideal, He spends most of his time sitting down, so he may as well enjoy the
best in comfort.
To save time in choosing the gifts for the balance of my elves. I 've taken a
hint from some of the kids who send me their requests and have just tossed
in some pictures. With your wide range of stock, I know you can fill the bill.
Once again, Norm, thanks for the tour and I '11 be looking forward to having
you fall all my gift list. I '11 bet most of my friends down your way will be doing
the same thing to ger ready for the Christmas rush.
P.S. Some of those low prices you have are almost unbelievable. Why,
I '11 have money left over this year after shopping at your store. Tell all the
youngsters down your way that if the mail strike continues, 1 '11 be announcing
a special arrangement for them to get their requests to me. After all, Norm,
you and 1 know we have a reputation for good service and we can 't let people
down at this important time of year.
Kind Regards,
Santa
y.
