Hawks off to a good start,
win two over Port Stanley
The Exeter Hawks are off to a
good start in the Ontario Hockey
Association Junior "D" West-
ern division with two straight
victories.
Friday night at the Exeter
arena, the Hawks scored a decis-
ive 12-2 victory over the Port
Stanley Lions. Earlier in the week
in Port Stanley the Hawks won by
a score of 8-1 over the same club.
The Hawks are again managed
by Fred Mommersteeg and the
coach is Terry Bourne.
Gerald Weido and Fred and
Rick Mommersteeg of the Zur-
ich area are valuable members of
the Hawks along with Tom Hayt-
er and Rick Grenier of Dashwood,
Cam Haist from Grand Bend and
Rick Ingram of the Hensall
district.
The Hawks will be back in
action at the Exeter arena Sun-
day night a 8 p.m. when the Tav-
istock Braves supply the opposit-
ion.
Flyers lose in
first SH contest
The Zurich Flyers lost their
first game of the schedule in
South Huron Hockey League

they came out on the short end
of a 10-7 score with the Exeter
Mohawks.
Glen Overholt was the top
scorer for last year's champions
with a two -goal effort while Pat
Bedard, Jim Ramer, Ron Desj-
ardine, Paul Corriveau and Bob
Farquhar each blinked the red
light once.
Gary Parsons led the Mohawks
scoring attack with a four -goal
effort. Mike Cushman fired two,
while single counters were reg-
istered by Jack Glover, Al Knight
Murray Glanville and Larry
Willert.
Only six minor penalties were
called in the game, with four
going to the homesters and two to
Zurich.
Lose pounds
easy way
Pounds are sneaky, They
sneak on. Skip a donut at
coffee break and you've
lost 10 lbs. in a year, Add a
one-half walk every day. That
brings your weight loss up
to 25 lbs in a year. Novem-
ber 2-8, 1975 is Nutrition
Week. It's a good time to
start doing something about
it,
In Friday's game, the Hawks
waited until the last three min-
utes of the first period before
getting their scoring machine
into action.
The first marker came from the
stick of Cam Haist at 17.10
on an unassisted effort. In quick
succession, Don McKellar hit
on a pass from Matt Muller and
John Van Gerwen fired the puck
into the Port Stanley net on a
play started by Phil Knight and
Rick Grenier.
In the second period, Gerald
Weido and Brian Taylor broke
loose with two goals apiece to
pace a six goal Exeter scoring
attack. Don McKellar and Matt
Muller drew assists on the first
Weido score and Paul Brooks
helped on the second.
Brian Taylor converted a pass
from Ken Pinder on his first
marker and assists on the second
were credited to Tom. Hayter and
Ken Pinder.
The other two Exeter second
period goals were fired by Cam
Haist on an unassisted effort and
Ken Pinder as he converted
passes from Rick Grenier and
John Van Gerwen.
Hawk goals in the third period
were fired by John Van Gerwen,
Don McKellar and Bill Van
Bergen. Gerald Weido assisted
on the goals by McKellar and Van
Bergen while Ken Pinder and
Brian Taylor assisted on Van
Gerwen's successful shot.
