anore Marine claims leased land
A dispute between Manore
Marine Limited and the village of
Grand Bend has taken on a new
twist. Manore Marine, which has
leased a parcel of property on the
Ausable River from the village,
has refused to sign a deed
proposed by the village and in-
stead has filed a quit claim deed
on the property.
Grand Bend village council
received a letter Monday night at
its regular meeting stating that
the firm had filed the quit claim

deed and wants a cheque for $437,
submitted with a deed which was
never signed by the village,
returned.
Clerk Louise Clipperton said
the firm has leased the land from
the village for many years. A ten
year lease , which expired on
November 1, 1974 has not yet
been renewed as there was a
dispute over the amount of land
involved. In April, according to
Mrs. Clipperton, Manore Marine
presented the village with a lease
the firm considered suitable and
a cheque for the $437. The council
has not yet signed the lease.
Reeve Bob Sharen suggested
that council immediately consult
with the federal authorities to
determine their position
regarding the property. He said
the village had been given
written authorization for
jurisdiction over the land in-
volved, by the federal
authorities.
Stephen passes
salvage regulations
Stephen council has given final
approval to a bylaw to licence,
regulate . and govern salvage
yards in the township.
Clerk Wilmer Wein said this
week that under the new
regulations each yard must have
a fence of seven foot heighth
around it. Permits initially are
being issued to John Miller, Lot 9,
Concession a and Wayne Glan-
ville, Lot 11, Concession 5.
Planning on installation of
storm sewers along Waterloo
steet in Exeter is continuing and
work is expected to begin early in
the spring of 1976. The engineers
are Gamsby and Mannerow of
Guelph.

side of Waterloo street will get a

Don't risk
sick cattle
With the high price of feed to-
day, cattlemen can't afford to
take chances of the purchase of
feeder cattle, says Dr. D. G. Da-
vis, Veterinary Services Branch,
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture
and Food. The cattle diseases ex-
pert says there are a number of
things cattlemen can do to help
make sure their investment is a
sound one.
"It's a good idea to purchase
the cattle as early as possible,"
Dr. Davis recommends. "That
way, the animals can be shipped
and acclimatized to conditions in
Ontario before the inclement
weather of fall arrives."
Rent hall
basement
Hay Township council agreed
to rent the basement of the Hay
Township Hall to the senior cit-
izens club at an annual rental
fee of $120. The club has agreed
to do renovations and decorating.
The club plans a room for the
solo group, another for a wood-
working shop and a ladies activ-
ity room.
In other business, council
approved severances for Alec
Munn, lot 14-15, concession two;
Theodore Steinbach, lot 16,
concession 10 and Napoleon Cart-
er, south half, lot five, concession
LWR.
Council approved a tile drain
loan in the amount of $2,000.
Clerk Wayne Horner mentioned
that farmers considering a loan
must contact the council prior
to the start of work on the
drain.
connection.
Council disagreed with a
proposal by the Ontario Ministry
of Transportation and Com-
munications to extend the 40 mile
per hour speed limit at the south
end of Exeter to a distance of
2,000 feet south of the town limits.
Two municipal drain contracts
were let.Alvin Litt Excavating of
London will do the construction
work on the Wein and Pergel
drains for $6,489 and $2,998
respectively.
Councillor Robert Simpson
asked if there was not some way
to settle the matter once and for
all but the only suggestion made
was to consult with the federal
government for a ruling.
Councillor Bill Baird suggested
that the method would result in a
"rigamarole" of confusion and
contradiction,
