clerk indicated he would prefer
the village looking after their own
arrears so he could have a better
control over the entire system of
taxes. He also felt this would
help the municipality in obtaining
better grants.
The council were reluctant to
approve a change from the pres-
ent system until they found out
more details involved with them
collecting their own arrears.
Under the present system the
county collects all arrears and
charges the municipality two
percent for the service. If arrears
go beyond three years the county
arranges a tax sale of the prop-
erty, whereas if the village was
looking after their own collect-
ions they could claim the property
themselves after four years.
A by-law authorizing the partic-
ipation of the village in the
OMERS (Ontario Municipal
Employees Retirement System)
was given first, second, and
third reading at the meeting.
Up until now any employees of
the village were not taking part
in this program.
Clerk Heil also told council
he had attended a meeting of the
with the metric vocabulary in
such subjects as mathematics,
science, technical and geog-
raphy.

principal Bruce Shaw was given
approval to transfer a Profession-
al Development Day from June
to either Janriary 28 or February
25.
In a letter to the Board, Shaw
said, "Virtually all PD days are
at the end..of the year but it's
often desirable during the course
of the year to assess our progress
to date and, if necessary, to make
changes for the immediate future.
There is an advantage also in
examining our techniques and
general professionalism during
the actual school year."

Grand Bend
street lights
Grand Bend village council
Monday night approved a $1,500
street light program for the
village. The program, suggested
by Public Utilities foreman Stan
Lovie will involve mainly Lake
Road and also the area from the
post office to Gill Road.
Reeve Bob Sharen suggested
that council should budget anoth-
er $1,500 for upgrading street
lights in 1976.
"At that rate it wouldn't
be too long before the village
street lights are in top shape,"
said the reeve.
