"Let's Bake Bread. The first
meeting of the Zurich I was held
at the home of Ruby Beierling,
the assistant leader. Joyce Cook
is leader.
To allow the bread to bake,
the leaders first showed memb-
ers how to make freezer whole
wheat bread. Joyce had mixed
some dough prior to the meeting
so members could sample it at
the meeting. Another batter was
mixed to show members the
proper technique of kneading
and shaping.
Officers elected for the club
were president Karen McAllist-
er, vice-president Joan Beierling,
secretary, Mary Ann Mathonia,
treasurer Liz Groot and press
reporter Martha Neeb.
Joyce spoke on how to use
recipes and the ingredients
that are used in making bread.
Members then sampled the tasty
bread enjoyed with lemmonade.
Meeting two was held October
22 with basic white bread being
featured. The ingredients were
mixed and members took turns
kneading it. It was decided that
the club name would be the
"Bready Bunch."
Batter breads was the topic
of the third meeting as the
Bready Bunch gathered to dis-
cuss yeast products, batter
breads and their characteristics.
Joyce made brown batter rolls.
Members also discussed Can-
