Place, St. Thomas.
ST. PAUL'S A.C.W.
St. Paul's A.C.W. held
their autumn meeting at the
home of Mrs. Windover on
Thursday afternoon, Sept-
ember 11, The Vice-president
Mrs. F. Forrest opened the
meeting with the members
prayer followed by the devot-
ions from the Living Mess-
age. The scripture reading
was taken from Luke by
Annie Read, Olive Petty gave
the meditation and all the
members took part in the Lit-
any. The minutes were read
and approved. A Letter was
read from Ven. G.T. Kaye
thanking our group for the
boxes of clothing sent and
from Mrs. Anderson, a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital, fdr
the plant. The study book
"Don't let resentment ruin
the family," was given by
Helen Roberts. It was decided
that donations will be grate-
fully received by the next
meeting instead of having
a bazaar and bake sale. The
meeting closed with a poem
and a prayer.
UNIT I OF U.C.W.
Unit I of the UCW met on
Thursday, September 11
with Audrey Christie presid-
ing. After her opening thought
we sang Hymn No 206.
Her devotional theme was
"Try giving yourself away."
You cannot give yourself
away, without getting back
more than you give, if in
giving, you have no thought
of reward. The theme was
continued by prayer and the
singing of "Take my life
and let it be." Minutes of the
June meeting and the corresp-
ondence were read. •
Roll call was answered by
12 members. Audrey Joynt
read three letters from our
adopted girl in Burma, and
we gave our monthly donat-
ion, and Christmas gift for
her. The offering was given
and dedicated by Audrey
Christie. Mildred Kyle had an
interesting study on "Mission
in the home." Parents may
practice mission in the home
by listening and giving loving
answers to questions during
family discussions. We should
.be better listeners, so our
family may feel confident.
We may learn from our
children, when their thoughts
and opinions are different
from ours. Audrey thanked
Helen Goddard for being our
pianist and, all the others
helping with ' the meeting.
After her closing thought
"The 'use of life, is to spend
it for something that will
outlast it" we repeated the
Benediction. Julene Keys had
an interesting contest after

which our hostesses Audrey
Joynt and Ilene McLean
served a delicious lunch.
Service at the .. United
church was conducted by the
Rev. Don Beck with Mrs.
John Turkheim at the organ.
The sermon "Give Him a
hearing!" was based on
John 7:37-52 and the choir
sang the anthem, "I have
decided to follow Jesus."
The Sunday School met
during the latter half of the
service.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The Women's Institute met
in the Legion Hall on Wed-
nesday evening, September 10
for a delicious pot -luck supper
convened by hostesses Hilda
Payne and Gladys Coleman.
Following this the meeting
was held with President
Hilda Payne presiding. Roll
call was answered by bringing
an article from another count-
ry and explaining its use.
Financial report showed a
balance of $102.64. A letter of
resignation from Lois Shapt-
er was read, which was
accepted with regret and it
was decided to send a small
gift to show our appreciat-
ion of participation in the
Institute. Joyce Pepper was
installed as Vice-P,resident
and Marg Ingram as convenor
of Education and Cultural
Activities in Lois's place.
Other correspondence dealt
with the County Rally on
October 6, at Belgrave, Huron
County Historical Society
meetings on September 16
at Blyth and a Crediton on
October 15, and letters of
appreciation from Nan Britton
and Nancy and Barbara Mc-
Curdy. In other business the
members agreed to serve
coffee and cookies at the re-
opening of the Town Hall
and Library on September
25, voted for Joyce Pepper as
delegate to the .London Area
Convention at St. Thomas,
on October 15 and 16, and
were informed we had leaders
for the 'girls 4-H Club. The
resolutions to be discussed at
St. Thomas were discussed
and voted on and final plans
made for the exhibit at the
Fall Fairs.
Joyce Pepper and Hazel
Corbett conducted the prog-
ram which consisted of a
sing -song, accordion and
piano selections by Brenda
Pepper, and everyone reading
a clipping on a recent current
event. Hazel Corbett read an
article. "Sisters." Courtesy
