ALL ABOUT FIELD INTERESTING HAPPENINGS IN ONTARIO'S PRETTIEST VILLAGE Bayfield Lions Club 28th Annual Summer Carnival held Friday evening, July 25 was termed a real success by Lion members. The Carnival got off to a fine start at 7 p.m. when the par- ade of floats, decorated bicycles, costumed pedestr- ians marched up Main Street around Clan Gregor Square to the Agricultural grounds, led by the Ipperwash Cadet Band, where rides, games of chance, Bingo refreshment stands, candy apples and candy floss were all set up Judging the numerous entries in the parade was a difficult task, as a great deal of work had gone into preparing for the parade. Winners in the float class were as follows - Special prize, Tom Penhale (pair of Belg- ium Horses and wagon), First prize Bayfield Cubs and Scouts, second, Old Homestead Campgrounds, third, Lionetes of Bayfield; fourth, Knox Presbyterian church. Pony and Rig, Blair Brothers with Ginger. Antique cars, first, Gary Triebner; second, Ken Johnson, third, Kelvin Merner. Decorated tricycles, first Matthew King; second, Chris Clote, third, Bobby Klaudi. Decorated bicycles, first, Marsha Triebner, second Larry Consitt, third, Julian Johnson. Special Julia Dun- das. Miscellaneous carst, Bobby Fisher, Wendy Penhale, Kit McCauley Group of three; (PeterPan) Jeff Fellows, Meg and Toby; Mackenzies and Bruce; the Chain Gang. Pairs in costume, Carol Varry and Susan Pfaff; Douyg and Scott McKay (Little hoboes); Tracy Guilfoyle and Allison Marman (Policeman and prisoner). Individuals; first, Karen Lafer, second, Kathy Smith, third, Kathy Dunn. Draw prize winners at the Carnival were Robert Boyes (Rotary Mower); Jean Clark (9 x 9 ft. tent); Bob McVean (Water purifier); Don Will- iams, London (radio); Lorne Coke (aluminum step ladder); J.F. Rau, Zurich (spincast rod and reel); Jeff Ducharme, St. Clair Beach, (chaise lounge); Lorne Taylor, Varna (hibachi barbecue); Ron Whetstone, R,R,3, Clinton, (lawn chair); Irvin Pease (lawn chair). BAPTIST CHURCH LADIES The Bayfield Baptist Church Ladies group entertained Mrs. Bruce Eaton and the Ladies group of South End Baptist Church of Owen Sound on Tuesday. ABOUT PEOPLE Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mey- er, Michelle and Marsha, Waterloo were weekend guests of her mother, Mrs. Lena Ervine. Captain Peter MacKenzie arrived this weekend to be with his wife Olga and family for a holiday at the home of his in-laws, Rev. George and Mrs. Youmatoff. Best wishes to Mr. Reg Francis who is confined to Alexandra Marine and Gen- eral Hospital in Goderich. Mr. and Mrs. J.B Higgins returned home last week after spending an enjoyable two weeks in the Highlands of Haliburton on Lake Bosh - kung as the guests of her aunt, Mrs. G.M. Chesney at her summer home. Mrs. Mary Melaban and four children of Balirsville, Penn., Mrs. George Wright, London and Miss Debbie Miskie, Elmwood are vacat- ioning with Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Makins and family. Mrs. Margaret Garrett was in Ottawa from Wednesday to Sunday of last week attending a Cameo Convent- ion. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Martin and family, Detroit, Michigan, are holidaying at their cottage for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Irwin and Robbie, London visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Erickson and fam- ily on Friday. Misses Joanne and Sheryl Layton of Brucefield are holidaying with their grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Craig at Pine Lake Camp. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Atk- inson, Waterford, Michigan, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman F. Cooper of Mount Clemens, Michigan, at their villae residence on Clan Gregor Square. Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. McLeod, John and Dawn Emnia. Mr. LeRoy DeJong and Glen Martin, Detroit, Mich., spent last weekend in Port Stanley and attended the Fishermen 's Exhibition. Mr. Renouf W.A. Johns, Mount Clemens is at his vill- age residence for several days. Mr. Bud Sturgeon and his fiancee, Miss Barbara David- son, London were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson in Wind- sor Mrs. Violet Sturgeon is vis- iting for a few days with rel- atives in Port Stanley and on Sunday attended the Parker family reunion in Pinafore Park, St. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Geme- inhardt returned home on Sunday after spending several days in Blind River and Mass- ey.
