Bayfield mill rate

At the regular Bayfield
village council meeting Mon-
day evening, it was learned
that the Huron County Munic-
ipal Officers Association semi-
annual meeting will be held
in the old town hall in Bayfield
on Wednesday, May 14, with
registration and a coffee hour
at 10 a.m.
Council received an invitat-
ion from the Ministry of Treas-
ury, Economics and Intergov-
ernmental Affairs to attend a

ion of Municipalities of Ontario
Conference in Toronto from
August 3 to 6 at the Royal
York, and an invitation to
attend a retirement banquet
for Len Morris on May 23 in
the Carleton Ballroom, Holiday
Inn, London.
Another invitation was rec-
eived from the Ausable-Bay-
field Conservation Authority,
who will officially receive it's
charter on Wednesday evening
May 14, and will mark the
occasion at a dinner in the
Legion Hall in Exeter.
The reeve reported on his
attendance at the Holmesville
Land Fill Site committee meet-
ing at which • time he said
Stanley Township members
attended and inquired as to
costs for their garbage disposal.
In other business council set
Saturday, May 31, at 2 p.m.
in the old Town Hall, as the
date for a public meeting to
discuss a Boundaries Act Legal
Survey of village streets and
lanes, and tentatively set the
same meeting to hear the
proposed re -zoning changes
from residential to commercial
requested by two ratepayers,
namely the McFadden applic-
ation and the Stotesbury-Leeson
application.
It was decided to hire Len
Fawcett to trim the trees in
Clan Gregor Square at a cost -
of $125. The village received
a cheque from CIAG Insurance
Company for $300 for damage
-done to Clan Gregor Square
resulting when the Rosenlund
vehicle failed to negotiate the
curve on Highway 21,

A by-law was passed to set
the mill rate for 1975 for the
Village of Bayfield. The vill-
age mill rate will remain the
same as last year at 29 mills,
but the Huron County rate is up
12 mills and the Huron County
Board of Education mill rate
will be increased by one mill,
making a total rate increase of
13 mills. Taxes will be due in
two installments; on June 17
and November 17. Penalty for
non-payment of taxes will
result in one percent of the
amount due added on the first
day of default plus one percent
added the first day of each
month of default.
Council plans to tour the
village streets on Sunday aft-
ernoon, May 4, at 2 p,m. The
clerk was instructed to write
to Mr. •Knight, Humane Soc-
iety Officer, London, in reg-
ards to his survey in respect to
dog -catching and disposal of
same for the village. They
granted Logan Cleave permis-
sion to run a water line from
the Siddall Building across
Howard Street East to his resid-
ence,
