HENRY GACKSTETTER
Henry Gackstetter of R. R.1,
Brussels, formerly of R, R.1,
Exeter, passed away on Thurs-
day, April 10, at Wingham and
District Hospital in his 84th
year. He was the husband of
the late Frances Littlejohn.
He was the father of Henry
A. Gackstetter, R.R.1, Exeter,
and (Katherine) Mrs. Adam
Smith, R.R.4, Brussels.
Funeral services were held
on Sunday, April 13 from St.
Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich,
Rev. A. Blackwell officiated,
Interment was made in St.
Peter's Lutheran Cemetery,
Zurich.

School
The production of "H.M.S.
Pinafore" was well received by
parents and friends of the pupils
of Zurich Public School on
Wednesday and.Thursday
evenings of last week. Two
casts performed; the Thursday
night cast is shown above.
An added highlight of the
evening was a guitar trio by
three pupils. From left to right
they are, Janet McAllister,
Susanne Besse and Kathy Love.
Grants assist Playhouse fund
Benson Tuckey, chairman
of the Huron Country Playhouse
building fund drive, announced
Tuesday that contributions and
pledges to date now total $45,
000. According to Mr. Tuckey
who is also honorary chairman
of the Playhouse board, "we
need much more and soon to get
the building up and open for
the 1975 season on June 25.
"Three charitable foundations
make up a significant portion
of the money thus far raised, "
said Mr. Tuckey. Bruce Sully,
Goderich, a director of the
Sully Foundation, presented a
$5, 000 contribution to Mr.
Tuckey on Thursday. Word was
received earlier in the week

Foundation, London. It is hoped
that the Foundation grants will
be matched by the various com-
munities which the Playhouse
serves.
Thus far total gifts and pledge
from individuals and various
businesses are as follows:

and Exeter each $850; London
$535; Parkhill and Dorchester
each $500; Centralia and Bay-
field each $100; Zurich $50;
and from various actors who
have worked at the Playhouse,
$60. "Not bad for a start but
we've $80, 000 to go and some-
how we're going to make it, "
said Mr. Tuckey.
Construction is being stepped
up on the Playhouse site, work-
ing against the June 25 deadline.
While the main priority is to
get the building up in tirrie,
there is also the problem of
getting it equipped. The Play-
house (Auxiliary) Guild is tackl-
ing the purchase of the front
curtain while James Murphy,
artistic director at the Playhouse,
is attempting to negotiate the
loan of various stage equipment
from other theatre companies.
