on Sunday evening.
Mrs. Fred LeBeau has return-
ed home after spending a week
in Toronto with her daughter,
Mrs. Fletcher McLaughlin,
Meagan, Alfie and Courtney
spent a few days in London
with her son and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Cluff, Rob and
Tara. Mrs. LeBeau also visited
her sister Mrs. Fred Arkell who
is presently confined to Univer-
sity Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Latimer,
newlyweds of Toronto visited
with his grandmother, Mrs. G. I„
Knight from Saturday until
Wednesday. Weekend guests
of Mrs. Knight were her daught-
er, Mr. and Mrs. Art Latimer
and Christine also of Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Pollock
of London and Mrs. Ernie Poll-
ock, Varna were Sunday visitors
with Mrs. Milton Pollock, Gosh-
en Line, Mrs. Irene McClinchey
and Mrs. Annie Finkbeiner,
Zurich, called on Mrs. Pollock
on Saturday evening.

mer who is a patient in Univer-
sity Hospital, London.
Miss Mary Duncan, Oakville,
was a weekend guest of her
grandparents, Dr. and Mrs.
G.H. Shepherd.

the Pruss cottage for the week-

The Zurich -Grand Bend
Figure Skating Club held their
first Skatathon on Sunday,
February 16, 1975.
The members to obtain the
most sponsors were: Missy Sandi -
lands, first; Leanne Jennison,
second; Pauline Bell, third.
The fastest skaters in their
grouping were Pauline Bell,
Jim Willert, Kathy Peck and
Rosemary Bedard.
Winners of the draw for the
hand tooled leather purses
made by Mr. Elmer Oesch were
Bruce Johnson, of London, and
Brenda McKinley, Zurich.
Public Hospital and visiting her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr,
and Mrs. Stan Burditt in Wood-
stock.
Mr. and Mrs. William Oesch,
and Terry, Goshen Line, visited
with their son Ivan and family
in Wellesley for the weekend.
Congratulations to the Bay-
field Atoms hockey team on
their win in Zurich last week
when they played against Grand
Bend winning 5-2 in the semi-
finals. In a tournament game in
Teeswater on Friday evening
they won 3-2 against Teeswater
when the game went into over-
time. Ricky Johnston scored the
three goals with David Sturg-
eon in the net for Bayfield.
UNITED CHURCH WOMEN
A committee of Dawna West-
lake, Margaret Scotchmer and
Elva Metcalf was made to sel-
ect future life members of the
UCW.
The Huron -Perth Presbyterial
on February 26, at Listowel was
discussed. A skit will be pres-
ented by our UCW as the Comic
Events from church history writ-
ten up by Mrs. Robert Scotch -
mer was one of four chosen
from Presbytry for presentation
that day.
It was decided the UCW
would propose installing a
phone at the church at their
expense. The blocks for the
50th anniversary quilt are
ready. Signatures may be put
on the blocks at 25 cents each.
Those who pay for signing will
have a chance to purchase a
ticket for the quilt. A price
schedule was set up for quilting
as a number of quilters have
been busy and have completed
two quilts this month.
Carol Penhale gave a talk'on
Contributions to the Heart Fund
and literature was passed out.
The lengthy rrreetin;T then adj-
ourned.
SIGNS OF SPRING
Members of the Bayfield Area
Bluebird Society have been
busy in the Hayfield Town Hall
this winter. The men have
made over 450 boxes and the
women will soon have there
painted and ready for the ret-
urn of the bluebirds in early
spring.
There is to be an open meet-
ing on Saturday, February 22,
at the Municipal Building at
2 p.m. It is hoped that many
interested people will come
out to the meeting and he ip with
plans for this worthwhile proj-
ect.

at the home of Mrs. L.B. Smith
Ten members and the Rector
were present.
The president, Mrs. R. Roy
Fitzsimons opened the meeting
by reading a very beautiful
poem on Lent. The Rector read
the Bible reading taken from
the 6th Chapter of St. Matthew
Moffat translation and all rep-
eated the Lord's Prayer in uni-
son.
Secretary, Mrs. L.W. Scotch -
mer read her report which was
adopted. Many cards of thanks
were received and moved for
filing. Treasurer Mrs. Merton
Merner gave her report which
was approved. The president
flave a list of get well cards and
owers that had been sent out
during the month. Mrs. George
Brown who is still on the get -
well list remembered us and
sent in her birthday money.
The next meting will be
held on Tuesday evening, Marci
11 in the Parish Hall with Mrs.
Merton Merner as hostess.
The Rector closed the meet-
ing with prayer and all repeated
the Benediction:. Mrs. Sinith
served a very dainty lunch ass-
isted by Mrs. Bill Parker.
Rev. and Mrs. Yotunatoff
gave us a very interesting in-
sight into the conditions of the
people they were in contact
with while they were holidaying
in Jamaica.
U.C.W. MEETS
A joint sleeting of Units I and
II of Sr, Andrew's UCW, Bay-
field was held February 14 at the

church, commencing with a
pot -luck supper. Twenty-eight
members and two visitors and
eight children were present.
Following a lovely dinner,
devotions were taken by Kath-
leen Siertsenra, Doris Reddoch,
Mildred Merrill and Charlene
Porter with the theme "Must
the church get the Left -overs?"
A lengthy business meeting
followed with the UCW presid-
ent Kathleen Siertserna in
charge. It was decided that
April 22 would be a possible
date for a program to be pres-
ented at the church by the
Dominion Life Choir, Advance
tickets are to be sold. This
project is a part of celebrations
of the 50th anniversary of
church union. Further plans
for the July 1 Chicken Barbecue
were made.
