Mrs. Hazel Corbett was the chair- man for the tneeting. The four Pepper sisters, Brenda, Marilyn, Laurie and Jo-ann favoured the group with two enjoyable num- bers with Brenda accompanying on the piano. Mrs. Donna Corbett was in charge of the devotion, and gave the meditation "Silence can be eloquent." The roll call was answered by where you attended Sunday School. Mrs. Pat Venner conducted the study on "Missions means Love.' Mrs. Elva Forrest and Mrs. Mary Alexander served a delic- ious lunch. EUCHRE PARTY Hensall Women's Institute held a Valentine euchre in the Legion Hall on Wednesday evening with eleven tables in play. Winners were as follows: Ladies high, Elizabeth Riley; ladies low, Grace Pecl<; men's high, Lorne Archer, men's low, Len Purdy; most lone hands, Joan Corbett. A draw for a box of groceries was won by Dorothy Mickle and a decorated angel food cake was won by Len Purdy, UNITED CHURCH NOTES "There's hope in the olive leaf" was the sermon topic chosen and preached on by Rev. Don Beck at the service or worship in Hensall United Church, Sunday morning. The choir sang the anthem "Lord, speak to me, " with Doug Mock taking the solo part. The Short Course "Baked iri a Pie" will be presented in Hensall shortly. Eleanor Shiels, Marg Clark, Karen Shirray and Joyce Pepper enjoyed a day of curling on Saturday at the Ladies Bonspiel in Seaforth. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Iviicl<le, London; Mr. and Mrs. William Mickle and family, and Mrs. PAGE 3 Florence Joynt were guests Sunday with Mrs. Laird Mickle. UNITED CHURCH WOMEN Mildred Kyle presided for the February meeting of Unit I of Iiensall United Church Women. Thursday afternoon at the church. Mildred used as her devotional theme "Suffering" Suffering can be a good teacher, suffering brings us deeper symp- athy, suffering brings strength- ening of faith. Successful living requires courage. We realize it is God's presence that gives us that strength. We remember he said "I am with you always." The minutes were read and approved and 12 members answ- ered the roll call. Lois Shaptcr, the unit leader conducted the business, when arrangements were made for the lunch to be served follow ing the special UCW church service at 11 a.m. on February 23. The special speaker will be Rev. Ann Langford. The ladies are serving a noon luncheon on February 25 for the Presbyter; group meeting in the church that day. The Huron Perth Presbyterial is to be held in Listowel on February 26. A bus is available to anyone need- ing transportation. The World's Day of Prayer service is to be held in the Hensall United Church on March 7 at 3 p.m. Belva Fuss entertained the group with several piano solos choosing love songs suitable for the Valentine season. Mem- bers of the Unit discussed help- ing or sponsoring a needy child. through Compassion of Canada. It was agreed by all to spons- or a child. Audrey Christie gave the study,using the article "Our most unusual mission, " written by Dr. A.E. Forrest, telling of Dr. Iielen Hustons great worl< in Nepal, as well as many other doctors, clergy, nurses, tuissionairies, and other personnel. This should tttal<e us so aware of the great dedication of these people in remote areas of the world. The meeting closed with the Mizpalt benediction. The hostesses Ilelen Scane and Will Beck serv. ed a delicious lunch. AMBER REBEKAHS Noble Grand Mfrs. Margaret Consitt presided at the regular meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge held recently and was assisted by Vice Grand Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mrs. Grace Thompson reported for the finance committee, and Mrs. Bertha MacGregor reported for the visiting committee, and Mrs. Sorothy Corbett gave the financial report. The C.P.& T. comrnittee are holding a progressive euchre party in the lodge hall on Feb- ruary 27 to which everyone is welcome. A letter was received from Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter, stating they are holding a "Dessert Euchre" on Wednes- day, February 26, to which members are invited. A motion was also received from Morning Star Lodge, Brussels, stating , they plan to visit Amber Lodge on February 19, to present the "Travelling Gavel" weather pertnitting. Plans were finalized to cele- brate the 26th anniversary of Amber Lodge on February 19 and to invite the D.D.P. of the district from Brussels. Members were requested to drape the charter in loving memory of three Past Presidents of the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario namely, Martha Patterson; Nora Brunner and Matilda Mac- Donald who passed away. ..:..........
