The Zurich United Church
Women met on Thursday after-
noon, January 9 with 32 mem-
bers and three visitors present.
Mrs. Harvey Clausius was
chairlady for the worship serv-
ice and the meeting opened
with the Hymn, "I would be
like Jesus, " The theme of the
worship service was "The
Changing Seasons" and three
members, Mrs. H. Neeb, Mrs.
H. McAdams and Mrs. Marie
Pask each contributed thoughts
on this theme.
For a topic, Miss Olive
O'Brien presented worthwhile
thoughts on looking back to
the past year and what value
we had received from it and
what expectations we had for
the coining year. She ment-
ioned the great concern every-
one should have of the dwindl-
discuss past year
trig attendance in our Sunday
School .
Several musical numbers by
Miss Idella Gabel were enjoyed
by everyone.
In the business meeting which
followed, annual reports were
given by the different secret-
aries.
In the correspondence a
thank -you note from the ladies
of the Lutheran Church for our
donation. Thanks also was exp-
ressed by not or in person for
Christmas boxes.
Group III was appointed to
look after the pot -luck lunch
after the annual meeting on
January 29.
Quilting was discussed and
decided to be done in February.
Roll Call was answered by
payment of membership fees
and Mrs. Eva Evans was wel-
coined as a new member.

Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Gould,
Windsor, spent the weekend with'
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Chandler.
Mrs. Everett Haist is expect-
ed home from South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, where she has
been a patient.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love spent
several days with Randy, Rhonda
and Richard Lobb, Clinton,
while her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Lobb were in Montreal.
The annual ratepayers meet-
ing for Dashwood will be held
in the Community Centre,
Tuesday, January 28 at 8 p.m.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The January meeting of
Dashwood Women's Institute
was held at the home of Mrs,
Verda Moulton with the Family
and Consumers group in charge
and Mrs. Stuart Wolfe, Conven-
or. Mrs. Moulton and her
daughter are ardent antique
collectors and the ladies gath-
ered around the fire place
midst the beautiful things on
display.
President, Mrs. Gordon
Bender, presided for the open-
ing and business. Twenty-one
members answered the roll
call "Give your waistline
measurements in centimetres."
The ladies also brought buttons
to add to the hostess's fine
collection. Leaders were disc-
ussed for the new club for the
4-H girls. What Shall I wear?"
There will be four euchres,
January 21 and 28 and February
18 and 25. Greetings received
from other institutes were pass-
ed around as was a card from
Brother Bob Mittleholtz.
Mrs. Wolfe presided for the
program. Mrs. Glen Webb dis-
cussed the motto, "Feed the
family what they require, not
what they desire. Mrs. Irvin
Rader took for the topic
Clothing and Textiles. She had
many interesting pamphlets
from the loan library. Mrs.
Donna Hamather of Zurich
gave interesting tops from the
Weightwatchers diary of which
she is a member.
During the social hour the
ladies were free to browse
through the house. Mrs. Sid
Baker thanked Mrs. Moulton
for her hospitality and a most
interesting evening.
LADIES AID
Group I with Mrs. Lorne
Becker convenor was in charge
of devotions and lunch at the
January meeting of Zion Luth-
eran Ladies Aid. The president,
Mrs. Arnold Becker opened the
meeting with scripture and pray-
er and Mrs. Hilda Rader assist-
ed by Mrs. Albert Miller as par-
ent and Mrs. Irvir Rader as the
teenager, took the topic, "Bring
up your children." The aud-
ience also participated in the
discussion as parent and teen-
ager answered questions on the
home, church, and people.
Mrs. Becker conducted the
business. Several donations and
cards of thanks were received.
The Altar Guild reported 17
visits and 26 shut-in boxes
packed. The new Guild is Mrs.
Bill Berends and Mrs. Oscar
Miller. Following closing devo-
tions by Mrs. Lorne Becker,
lunch was served.

Over the past couple of years the prices of
everything have increased - many almost
double - with the exception of the Zurich
Citizens News.
OUR PRICE HAS REMAINED AT ONLY $5.00
PER YEAR
We are the only weekly newspaper in West-
ern Ontario who has. not increased their
subscription price!
HOWEVER
The price of newsprint alone has increased
from about $150 per ton in 1971 to $250 per
ton in 1974 --and a further increase is antic
ipated. All other production costs have
increased, accordingly.
