property owned by Mr. Milt
Van Patter that he has request-
ed permission to build a fence
along the river bank and a dock
out into the river. The fence
would be on private property
but the dock on Government
property. If the council accepts
this a license will be issued.
The clerk was instructed to
answer the letter in the affirma-
tive.
Ray Bell of the Bayfield
Meat Market, approached Cou-
ncil about having the road
allowance behind his property
closed so he could purchase
it. He would like to build a
new building and needs more
room. Council informed him -
property owners abutting on
said road allowance have right
to contest any such move, but
surveyors should be asked to
locate roadway and then ad-
vance from there. After survey
council will entertain the idea.
In view of the plan that this
proposed building is to house
the Bayfield Meat Market and
the L.C.B.O. it is necessary to
have said building by spring,
the council agreed to talk to
surveyors and act on this as;
quickly as possible.
The Fire Department, repre-
sented by several firemen,
wanted suggestions on whether
the present fire department
should go Municipal. This was
discussed and Council decided
to accept, in principal only,
the recommendation that the
fire department become a
Municipal Fire Department.
It was also suggested a bud-
get be set up for operation
and wages of same. New equip-
ment is badly needed. They
would like to keep the old fire
truck.
Mr. Doug Sinnamon ap-
proached Council about a letter
to allow his mother to be moved
from Wingham to the Senior
Citizens Apartments in Bay-
field. Council felt this would
not be a great problem.
