Almost one Ontario resident in
eleven is over 65 years of age.
But, only four percent of senior
citizens live in Homes for the
Aged.More than 85 percent live
with their spouse or with
relatives.
Women generally outlive men,
mainly because of genetic fac-
tors. In the aged, stress is the
major cause of heart weakening,
the major cause of death.
Many other diseases and
illnesses are caused, in part, by
inactivity. Seniors, in fact, could
be even healthier if they were
more active.
Some of Canada's most famous

year once the consulting
engineers have drawn them up.
When repairs to the roof of the
arena were carried out last year,
the engineers deemed the
building had been brought up to
standards of the National
Building Code, which was the
code in force at the time. Since
then, it has been replaced by the
Ontario Building Code, which has
new Ontario Building Code.
While the structure is con-
sidered basically sound, "there
are thousands of little things
which should be repaired," Heil
says. That is the reason for the
present renovation project.
At this point no cost estimates
have been prepared.
