The official opening of the
Port Blake Conservation area
will be held Wednesday, June
9 at 1 p.m.
This area has been developed
by the Ausablc-Bayfield Conser-
vation Authority under agree-
ment with the Ministry of the
Environment on land owned by
the Lake Huron Water Supply
System at the intersection of
•Highways 83 and 21, just north
of Grand Bend.
Following the opening cere-
monies and a tour of the Lake
Huron Water Supply System,
the Authority will hold its annual
summer fall meeting at the
Authority headquarters in Exeter.

The Family and Consumer
Affairs committee was in charge
of the May meeting of Dashwood
Woolen's Institute with Mrs.
Stuart Wolfe convener and
grandmothers as guests. The food
was abundant and varied as all
sat down to a pot luck supper.
Following supper several
prizes were awarded to the oldest
grandmother, Mrs. Everett
Haist; youngest Mrs. Elgin
Rader; grandmother with the
oldest great grandchild, Mrs.
Henry Eagleson; grandmother
with the youngest grandchild,
Mrs. Jessie Rader; registration
number, Mrs. Verda Moulton.
Mrs. Earl. Keller, vice-
president presided for the
business meeting. A donation
Was. given to Cystic Fibrosis
foundation; Achievement Day for
4-H is May 27 at Stephen Central
school.

Mrs. Susan Merner
marks 100th
Mrs. Susan Merner who was
born May 1 1 , 1876 celebrated
her 100th birthday Sunday May
9, with members of her family
and relatives and friends. She has
7 children, 19 grandchildren, 32
great grandchildren and one
great great grandchild.
Hcr children are Mritord
(.Joe) Mcrncr. Mrs. Louclla
Tiernan, Arnold Mcrncr, Zurich
Vcrda Bosk, Detroit; Margaret
Reschke, Westland, Mich.;
Elgin Mcrncr, Kitchener; and
Kav Bartliff, Clinton.
Mrs. Mcrncr also has one
great -great grandchild. He is
Jason Schilbc, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Schilbc.
Although in failing health,
she is very bright and keenly
interested in happenings around
her. Besides gifts, flowers and
numerous greeting cards, she
was visited by Bob McKinley,
MP for Huron -Middlesex who
Presented her with a picture of
birthday
the Royal family.
Doug Riddell and George
Tiernan presented a plaque
from the village of Dashwood,
and she received greetings from
Prime Minister Trudeau, member
of the opposition Joe Clark,
Wm. Davis, premier of Ontario,
and Jack Riddell, MPP for Huron -
Middlesex.
Flowers were placed in Zion
Lutheran church in honor of her
birthday by her fancily and
members of her family attended
the service.
