4-H GIRLS
The Grand Bend 4-11 club
girls, "Steady Stitchers" held
their seventh meeting, Monday
evening at Mrs. J. Smeekens
home.
Roll call was answered by
telling "The one purpose of a
French Knot."
At this meeting they received
their title page for the record
book which was designed by Ellen
Van Leeuwen.
Plans were discussed for
their Achievement Day skit,
coming up on May 22.
The leaders Mrs. 3. Smeekens
and Mrs. A. Walper demonst-
rated applique at this meeting.
Home assignment was to
cornplete free choice article
and report on it.
The next meeting is at Mrs.
A. Walper's home.
WI MEETING
The May meeting of Grand
Bend Women's Institute was
held last Thursday night in the
town hall with around 75 in atten-
dance.
President, Mrs. Nola Taylor,
welcomed all and opened with a
poem, "He who plants a seed,
plants hope and trust."
Convener of Horticulture,
Mrs. Ed Gill, introduced guest
speaker Farmer Bill Rammeloo,
his wife Melva and their son
Eric.
He spoke on plant care aspects
of watering. light, rest periods,
temperature, when to repot,
and he demonstrated correct
«av to start a terrarium and
pruning of plants. Many plants
were on display, which the ladies
bought. '
Mrs. Alec Hamilton thanked
Mr.Rammeloo and Lunch was-
seryed at close of meeting.
orpha club
The Orpha Club met Tuesday
evening at Mrs.Susie Devine's
home with 24 in attendance.

Rev. and Mrs. Harold Dobson
of Dungannon visited Thursday
afternoon with Mr. and Mrs.
Wellwood Gill.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill White and
Nancy of Sarnia, visited Saturday
with their aunt, Mrs. Art Fink-
beiner.
Special speaker at the morning
service of the United Church
was Mr. Larry Gillians of Scar-
borough who is a representative
of the Alcohol and Drug concern.
The choir anthem was "My
Prayer."
Elgin Adams accompanied
by Mr. and Mrs. Lesley Adams
of Exeter visited Monday in
London with Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Patterson and Mrs.
Betty Adams.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morenz,
Glenda and Tammy attended a
family gathering dinner, on
Sunday at Wellesley honoring
Mrs. Morenz father, William
Cook, who is celebrating his
85th birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Don McArthur
and Kevin of Port Elgin visited
last Monday with her mother
Mrs. Lawrence Johnson. Mr.
Johnson is at present driving a
charter bus trip to California.
Mr.and Mrs. Alan Kraul and
Jennifer, of Toronto, visited on
the. weekend with her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Peariso.
Sixteen members of the Church
of God attended a Missions Con-
vention Saturday in the London
Church of God. Speaker was
Rev. John Williams of Niagara
Falls, New York, and he showed
slides of mission areas in South
America.
A family dinner was held
Sunday at Mrs.Lawrence John-
son's home, in honor of her
mother's Mrs. Mae Holt's 84th
birthday. Guests were Buelah
Holt, Erwin Holt and his family,
Diane, Donald, Debbie and
Robert.

instrumental group, choir, solo's,

The first fall meeting is sche-
duled for September 28 at the
home of Mrs. Marg Roberts.
Mrs. Roberts closed the meeting
by reading, "Twelve thoughts to
live by".
THE PLAYHOUSE GUILD
The Playhouse Guild executive
met Wednesday evening at Beth
Jean's home.They heard the
financial report of the very
successful fashion show lunch-
eon.
Plans were made for the annual
dance at the Playhouse for season
ticket holders, on June 12
with Johnny Downs orchestra.
Another executive meeting
will be held in the form of a
luncheon at 11 a.m. at the Green
Forest on May 18.

were supper guests, Saturday
night in Exeter with Mr.and
Mrs. Les Adams.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morenz
visited a few days last week in
Mio Michigan, with their cousins,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Maier, Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Boerner and Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Maier.
Colin Love has returned home
from St. Joseph's hospital,

The council of the village of
Dashwood have requested the
dog control officers to make more
frequent trips to the village to
iplok up dogs running at large.
