The storm is over, the damage
done, repairs made and people
are gradually getting back to
normal. I am sorry if 1 did not
get your news - no phone.
What purpose did it do? Men
were reminded that smart as they
are there is still One more power-
ful. Friends dug in to help
friends. Those with heat took in
others or passed on warm food.
Elderly and sick were moved to
places of warmth,
Our two centenarians, Mrs.
ldella(Bammie) Fisher and Mrs.
Susan Merner were moved to
South Huron Hospital.
Mr. & Mrs. Jack Gaiser, Kim
and Lyn have returned home after
two weeks spent in Florida.
They were joined there by Mr.
and Mrs. Mike Burke and Susan
of Brampton who had flown
down.
They visited with Mr. & Mrs.
Ray Kretzman and hoes at
Margate and travelled to Tampa
and Orlando, visiting many
places of interest.
Mrs. Jean Walper is a patient
in University Hospital, Londor
where she underwent heart
surgery.
Mrs. Chris Olson. Regina,
Saskatchewan, is visiting with her
sisters Mrs. Martha Miller and
Mrs. Melvin Stade, Melvin and
Sherry.
Sharon Rader and Bill Bennett
London, spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs, Irvin Rader.
Debbie Riddell and Lorne
Miller were w•e(Awn d guests with
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rader,
London.

Peewees in OMHA playoffs
The Pee wees won the W.O.
A.A. trophy over Drayton in two
games straight. They also won
the Pee wee "D" trophy at the
Shamrock Tournament at Lucan
on Saturday. Now they arc in the
O.M.H.A, quarter finals, playing
against Honeywood in a hest of
three series, of which they won
the first game 5-3 in Honeywood,
and play hack in Zurich on Wed-
nesday night.
Tuesday, March 2
ZURICH 9 - DRAYTON 5
Zurich travelled to Drayton to
gain their first win in this series,
only to return home to Zurich in
slot and NO HYDRO! Zurich
outscored Drayton 5-1 in the
first period with goals by Brian
Horner, Jim Willert, Kris Bed-
ard and two by Robert Willert.
In the second period, three more
were tallied by Robert Willert,
Chris Denomme and Mark Kirk.
while Drayton added another.
However, during a rash of penal
ties for Zurich. three goals were
scored by Drayton, but Jim Will-
ert got the final goal with live
seconds remaining.

ZURICH 9 - DRAYTON 4
Despite playing in the Hensall
Arena, Zurich skated to a 9-4
win to gain the W.O.A.A. "E"
trophy.
Drayton started the scoring,
but before the period ended
Zurich scored four to Drayton 's
two. Three goals were from
the stick of Robert Willert and.
the other from Jim Willert. Again
in the second period. Zurich tall-
ied four more goals with Drayton
adding one. Robert Willert
banged in two more goals, while
Jim Willert and Mark Kirk

The postponed Hensall W.I.
meeting will be held in the
Legion Hall at 2 p.m. on Tuesday,
March 16.
Area canvass
John Stephens, chairman of
the South Huron Recreation
Centre conuilittee, reported this
week his group has not yet
started any solicitation of funds.
He said the committee is busy
getting things into motion to
determine what grants will be
available from government
sources and also for enlisting
support from those in the arca
%vho would help head up a drive

Stephens said the committee
hope to have several people from
the neighboring conlnnrnities
involved in the planning of any
canvas.
Federation
wants income
protection
In an opening statement at
Saturday's annual Huron Feder-
ation of Agriculture briefs to
members of parliament meeting.
president Adrian Vos asked for
support in keeping up the income
of farriers.
Vos said, "We as organized
farmers in the Federation of
Agriculture have stated publicly
that we support the price and
income controls of our govern-
ments, but I would like to go a
step further and make sure that
00 one takes a step backwards
• in net income."
He continued, "The farmer will
do his share but after being
told to expect a drop in net
income of dU per cent while the
rest of society will have an
increase in net income of eight
per cent is just too much."

sniped at by ill-informed consum-

some opposition politicians who
try to use the agriculturist as
a weapon against the present

Championship trophy by defeat-
ing Lucan 9-3 and Watford 2-1.
ZURICH 9 - LUCAN 3
Zurich were a whole period
getting on route in this game as
Lucan went ahead 2-0. Then Zur-
ich came alive in the second
frame with four unanswered
goals from the sticks of Mark
Kirk, Chris Denommc, David Erb
and Robert Willert. Again in
the last period Zurich came up
with five big ones with Lucan
sneaking in one. Both Chris
Denomnlc and Robert Willert
completed their hat -tricks and
Kris Bedard notched a single.
ZURICH 2 - WATFORD 1
Again in this game Zurich
let the opposing team score in
the first period. However, in the
last minute of the second frame,
Robert Willert notched the
tying goal. Early in the last
period Jim Willert got the winner.
Now Zurich took their trophy
back home again, as they won it
last year also.

ZURICH 5 - HONEYWOOD 3
Neither team got on the score
sheet in the first period of a good
checking game. Then a flurry of
goals came in the second period.
Kris Bedard notched the first
goal, assisted by Jim Willert
and two minutes later Brian
Horner poked one in from Mark
Kirk. Next Honeywood cane back
with a pair, with Zurich short-
handed on both goals. Then
Robert Willert tipped one in from
David Erb and John McAllister.
Twenty seconds later, Jim
Willert slapped one home, set
up by David Smith and Robert
Willert. Again Honeywood
scored with Zurich serving a
penalty. Zurich 's final goal came
from the stick of Jin1 Willert,
set up by David Smith and
Robert Willert.
