Jack Riddell, Liberal MPP for Huron Middlesex, said before. the meeting that he, the chairman of the hospital. board and the administrator would form a panel to answer questions about the hospital. Mr. Riddell said that he appealed the decision to close the hospital after an action com- mittee was formed at last Thurs- day's council meeting in Clinton. He said he wanted to form a delegation to take to Toronto to present their case to the Health Minister, Frank Miller. There was a petition at. the door of the Clinton High School where the meeting was held. Mr. Riddell said he did not feel that the Clinton closing would affect the future of South Huron Hospital in Exeter. He also said he would be very surprized if any attempt was made to pit one hospital against the other. "They're working together on this," he said, "They are work- ing to keep all the hospitals in the area alive." Mr. Riddell said he appealed the decision to close the Clinton hospital "directly to the prem- ier." Service organizations, church groups and other citizens were invited to last night's meeting. South Huron Hospital will likely join the other hospitals in Huron County, in an attempt to save Clinton said Ben Hoogen- boom, director of public relations.
