Flyers post victories
over Huron Park
In a return to winning form, the
Zurich Flyers defeated the Huron
Park Marauders in back to back
games. Thursday in Huron Park
the Flyers won by a decisive 8-4
while Sunday at the Zurich arena
the home town squad had to
score three straight goals to beat
the much improved Huron Park
team 5-4.
In Thursday's game in which
the Flyers only took six
penalities, the home team struck
first with a goal at the 13"second
mark of the first period beating
Percy Bedard in goal for the
Flyers.
Zurich got that one back as Pat
Bedard scored a little over than
two minutes later. Steve Bedour
and Randy McKinnon assisted.
Midway throught the second
the Marauders scored two quick
goals to gain a 3-1 lead only to
have Glen Overholt of the Flyers
narrow Huron Park's lead to only
one goal. Ron Rader picked up
the lone assist.
In the third stanza, Zurich
struck first as Pat Bedard scored
his second goal of the game at
4:50 with Randy McKinnon
assisting.
Nine minutes later the
Marauders put in their final tally
of the evening but it was now the
Flyers turn to apply some
pressure as they scored five goals
in the last six minutes of the
game.
Starting off the barrage was
Overholt with his second goal of
the game while Rader and Dave
Cyr assisted.
Defenceman Mike Clarke took
his turn at doing some scoring
with an unassisted goal at 17:30 of
the third.

seconds later with some help
from Bedour and Bob Farquhar,
Scoring the second hat -trick of
the game for the Flyers was
Overholt with an unaided goal at
the 18:20 mark.
Rader finished the scoring off
10 seconds later with some help
from Overholt.
In Sunday's game Zurich
jumped off to a quick 1-0 early in
the first period on a goal by Pat
Bedard with help from Steve
Bedour.

remaining in the first, a goal by
defenceman Dave Cyr notched
the game up at two -all. Marty
Becker assisted.
In the second period with only
31 seconds elapsed, Ron Rader
scored an unassisted goal to put
the Flyers back into the lead.
Once again the Marauders kept
persevering and two goals by
Brivan Lather and Mark Cronyn
put Huron Park ahead, going into
the third period.
Pat Bedard continued to show
his scoring prowess with his
second goal of the game early in
the third period that evened the
game up at four apiece with
Becker picking up his second
assist of the evening.
The game remained
deadlocked until Mike Clarke
scored the game winning goal at
15:10 of the final stanza from a
scramble in front of the goal
mouth. Travis Postill and Rader
assisted,
It was, Mike Clarke who with
his second goal of the game put
the icing on cake with an empty
net goal at the 19:58 mark.
The Flyers next game is
tomorrow night in Thedford.
