Christmas is just another day
BY
Grade 5
Zurich Public
Christmas to a lot of people
means getting together with
relatives. But to some people
Christmas is just another day
because they are too poor to do
anything about it. In some ways it
is a happy time of year and in
some ways it is sad. What I mean
by sad is, itis as if you are really
hungry and you are with a friend
who has an ice-cream cone but
you don't have any money to buy
one. Your friend would probably
give you some because he or she
would feel sorry for you. What I
mean by happy is, you open
presents, get together with
relatives, sing carols, and have
fun sleighriding. But I think you
should, especially -now pray and
give money to poor people so they
can have a Merry Christmas too!

Christmas is seen
In all the stores,
The streets, the houses.
It's coming closer and closer
Bringing Christmas gifts for all.
Bells are heard
Every night,
Just before Christmas day
As you know Santa comes
Bringing joy to people.
Santa is in the North
Building and wrapping
Just before Christmas.
As you wait
You will see
Gifts around your tree.

Christmas is a time for giving
A time for receiving too -
With childrens hopes of seeing
gifts
Under the big cedar tree
Church bells are ringing merrily
Carolers are singing happily
Decorating the house with
wreaths and holly
With lights and stars too
Christmas is a happy time
The funnest time of the year

The night before Christmas is
almost over
For Gerry, John, Elizabeth and
Rover.
The girls all hope for lots of nice
toys
And electric trains hope the boys.
They hang their stockings by the
fire
And on this night they seem never
to tire.
The decorations are all on the
tree
And no-one is as happy as me.
The children are alltucked in
their beds
With lots of sweet things running
through their heads.
Their waking on Christmas will
come with haste
And with their candies nothing
will they waste.
Mama and Papa will shed many
a tear
When they open the gifts that
their kids gave them this year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year!

If I could make the world better
I wouldn't have so many factories
to pollute the air and water. I
would make people pay a fine for
killing wildlife they kill without
reason. Food, medical care,
doctors and other supplies could
be sent to the poorer countries. I
would get jobs for the Indian,
black and for other coloured
people. If people stopped
smoking and drinking we would
have a much safer world to live
in.

Lying in my bed,
Things spinning 'in my head,
Of what those presents under the
tree,
Might contain for me,
It was quite a fuss,
In the Christmas rush.
Will it all be worth it,
Just to make Christmas day a
hit?
Christmas day's worth anything,
So our house with joy will ring,
Merry Christmas to all,
And a Happy New Year.

The spirit of Christmas some
people say
Is the feeling you have on
Christmas day.
Some say it's candles with
fragrance sweet
Or the luscious turkey we love to
ea t.
But the Spirit of Christmas don't
you see,
Is not the snow, or wreaths, or
trees.
The Spirit of. Christmas in a
manger lay
On that holy Christmas day.

One night I saw Santa Claus. I
wanted to know if he put a pillow
down his shirt or he ate lots of fat.
I asked him and he said he ate
lots of fat, I still wanted to know
where he got all the stomach. He
said I talked to much. Then he
asked me what I wanted for
Christmas, I said I wanted Mr.
mouth. Then I said good-bye. He
gave me a little bag of candy.

The Christmas tree is a symbol
of spirit of the Yuletide in many
homes. The are several stories
about the origin of this
distinguished tree. It is still a
mystery which story is true.
There are several variations of
these trees, spruce, scotch pine,
cedar and fir, but there is still
more. The way that we use this
beautiful specimen, is to decorate
it with colourful ornaments and
lights.
• Everyone waits for the evening
to put it up, at least I do! There is
one special ornament that
everyone should have, and that is
the star which shone brightly
when Jesus, our Christ child was
born.

Christmas dinner, what a delight,
After the sparkles of Christmas
night. '
With turkey and stuffing and all
good things,
And candies and cakes fit for
kings.
Christmas dinner, what a treat,
It always brings good things to
eat.
To the table I feel a pull,
I'll soon be very, very full.

help plant trees to make our
