Other officers are as follows: past president, Mrs. Ian McAllister; 1st vice-president, vacant; 2nd vice-president, Mrs. Carl Payne; secretary, Mrs. Jack Drysdale; treasurer, Mrs. Ian McAllister. Chairman of committees: stewardship and finance, Miss Mary Goodwin; communications and leadership development, Mrs. Carl Payne; world outreach and christian development, vacant; church in society, vacant; christian citizenship, Mrs. Jack Corbett; supply and welfare, Mrs. Russell Erratt; friendship and visitation, Mrs. Clendon Christie; social func- tions, Mrs. Vern Alderdice, Unit leaders; unit 1, Mrs. Ken Elder; unit two, Mrs. Hans Ger- stenkorn; unit 4, Mrs. James McAllister, Nursery, Mrs. Edison Forrest; nominating committee, Mrs. Ian McAllister. During the business period, reports were given by: treasurer, Mrs. Ian McAllister for Mrs. Walter Spencer; finance and budget, Miss Mary Goodwin; friendship and visitation, Mrs. Howard Scane; social functions, Mrs. Vern Alderdice and supply and welfare Mrs. Russell Erratt, The Christmas meeting of the U.C.W. followed with Mrs. Stewart Miner as the guest speaker. HILDA PAYNE Special Effects for Carol Service On Sunday evening, the congregations of both Hensall and Chiselhurst gathered in the Hensall United Church for a special carol service. The senior choir, under the leadership of Mrs. John Turkheim, sang two anthems, "Noel, Noel" and "The Promised One". For the carol singing, duo projector screens were set up, on one of which were the words of the carols and the other showed flash -backs of the activities of the church during the past year with special emphasis on Christmas and winter scenes. Commentaries on the origins of the carols were given by Rev. Don Beck making the whole evening a most interesting oc- casion. Persona Is Welcome to Mrs. Vera Lem - mon who has , moved into Elizabeth Court Hensall from Exeter. Visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Sam Oesch last week were Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Pfaff and Miss Margaret Clark of Crediton on Thursday. On Friday, their grandson and his wife, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Bell of Clinton visited and on Sunday Mrs. Earl Flaxbard of Zurich called in, Mr. & Mrs. Art Warner and family spent the weekend with the latter's mother, Mrs. Sam Rannie. Mr. & Mrs. Ken Rogerson, Clinton, Mr. & Mrs. Glen McClure and family Winthrop, Mr. & Mrs. David Leonhardt and Scott, Brodhagen, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Worden, Staffa, Mr. & Mrs. Dave McClure, Clinton and Mr. & Mrs. Greg McDonald and family, Ailsa Craig celebrated Christmas with Mr. & Mrs, William Rogerson on Sunday. The C.P.T. Committee of the IOOF and Amber Rebekah Lodges distributed Christmas boxes to members and Shut-ins on Sunday. The W.M.S. and Ladies' Aid of Carmel Church packed boxes of treats for shut-ins members on Wednesday. room in our hearts for Jesus Christ --we can give time for Him in our conversation, life plans, entertainment, time, gift giving and in our sorrows. Then we shall leave Christmas behind as a new person, returning by another way. Mrs, Miner was introduced by Mrs. Carl Britton and thanked by Mrs. Russell Erratt. Mrs. Eric Luther gave a very lovely solo, "0 Come to my heart, Lord Jesus" and was ac- companied on the piano by Mrs. Robert Bell. A beautiful devotional was given by Mrs. Jack Drysdale and Mrs. Roger Venner illustrating that giving a gift from the heart at Christmas time, like kindness, is the greatest gift we can give. The offering is to be given to the Family and Children's Services.
