Today the organization is much the same with Ray McKinnon assuming the president's position and Earl Flaxbard, vice- president in charge of manufacturing. The main products produced today are pallets and export crates with most of these sold to firms in London, Huron Park and Chemical Valley. A total of 11,000 pallets and 17,000 export crates and boxes were manufactured last year. For trivia fans, over six million nails were used in the construction of the products. Most of the wood is obtained within a 150 mile radius of the plant with Brantford supplying the softwood and the Mount Forest -Walkerton area sending large amounts of hardwood to the firm. Competition in the industry is quite stiff according to McKinnon and Flaxbard with 50 large firms and as many as 200 one or two man operations involved in the manufacture crate -type products. Products constructed out of aluminum and plastic have started to make a few inroads into the industry but not to any great extent McKinnon said. The company plays an im- portant role in the economic life of Zurich with 14 employees presently employed and a payroll of $150,000 annually.
