At Friday's meeting in the county chambers, Goderich, councillors saw several salary adjustments proposed by the various com- mittees, and endorsed them all. The county planning depart- ment received increases for two planners of $1,118 each effective January 1, 1976. One planner is now at $19,786 and the other at $18,616. A planning technician received $728 per annum more, bringing his salary to $12,740. Two field workers with the Social Services Committee received six per cent increases - one $780 per annum to $13,520 and one $624 per annum to $11,232. Non-union supervisory staff at Huronview, including the assistant administrator, the recreation director, the food supervisor, the nursing director, the housekeeping supervisor, the chief engineer, the stockkeeper and all registered nurses received an extra $32 bi-weekly, an average increase of six per cent. The property committee granted the chief custodian at the court house an extra $33 bi- weekly to $587 every two weeks, The chief custodian, Jim Sheardown,' is due to retire on January 19, 1978. A new salary schedule has been adopted for the county custodians effective January 1, 1978. Custodial staff will start at $9,100 go to $9,360 after three months; $10,140 after a year; $10,790 after two years; and $11,440 after three years. The county weed inspector received an increase of 20 cents an hour to $5.10 effective January 1, 1978 and the tree com- missioners are paid $4.95 per hour with a $300 retainer going to the chief tree commissioner. Library staff received in- creases too. Ib. goes from $3.85 an hour to $4.05 per hour; Branch Supervisor 11 goes from $4,45 per hour to $4.70 ; and other branch staff go from $3.70 per hour to $3.90. The salary for the van driver increases from $4. per hour to $4.25 and the headquarters caretaker receives an extra $10 per month to $190. A salary schedule for a library technician was adopted at $8,320 to start; $8,502 after one year with regular increases each year to $10,322 after five years. Non-union secretarial staff effective January 1, 1978 in Group 1 go from $7,540 to $7,852 minimum and from $9,100 to $9,464 maximum. There are five groups for non-union secretarial staff. Group V go from $9,854 to $10,244 minimum and from $11,414 to $11,882 maximum. The salaries of the director of nursing and the director of public health inspection were also adjusted. Each received a six per cent increase bring the salary from $18,018 per annum to $19,110 per annum each. The salary adjustments for all department heads are treated separately from other staff but jointly in a special report. Bantams are Last Wednesday the Zurich bantams bombed Elma-Logan by a score of 17-0. In the first period, Zurich slapped in five goals, followed by another five in the second and seven goals in the final stanza. A total of eight players shared • O in the scoring with Robert Willert scoring five goals, Guy Wilde netting three, David Smith, Guy Dietz and Mark Kirk with two • each and Graham Kobe and Brian Horner scoring single markers. On their exchange visit over the weekend to Garden City Michigan, the bantams won two games 3-0 and 7-0. In the first game Saturday, the scoring was handled by the Willert boys with Robert getting two goals and Jim scoring the third counter, In Sunday's 7-0 win, Robert Willert improved his statistics with another four goals, while brother Jim popped in two goals and assisted on one. Kris Bedard scored the single goal.
